Last week, @emmaroberts + @kpreiss were fortunate enough to participate in @childrensLA “Literally Healing” program, which uses books to lift the spirits of patients and their families. The program has a dedicated therapeutic library with more than 1,000 specially selected books available to the children during their stay at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The program gifts over 42,000 free brand new books to their patients and siblings every year. ‘Personal Spaces,’ by American artist Lucy Lyon at the Palm Springs Art Museum. While this is one of her more recent pieces, much of Lyons’ early work involves reading and libraries. Libraries are of interest to her because they are places where one can be in a private space and public simultaneously.
