Casa Grande Hotel, La Paz. Southern zone (Zona Sur, calle 16) It's a very nice and modern 5 star hotel. 5 Blocks from the VERDE Teleférico Station, 10 minute light walk from San Miguel, a neighborhood full of coffe shops, pubs, restaurantes and shopping centers (more like what you see everywhere since it's the most modern part of the city) The Hotel's Restaurant Yerba Buena is one of the best in town, the Chef is quite prestigious and popular. The bar on the top floor is very trendy among locals. #lapaz #luxuryhotel #lovetotravel #wonderfulplaces #wondercities #tourguide #tourism #bolivia #wanderlust #wanderer #travelphoto #travelpics #traveltheworld #travelwriter #travelblogger #traveldeeper #travelstroke #instatravel #instatravelling #instavacation #instago #instapassport #passportready #connectingtravellers #travelbeauty #travelgram #mytravelgram #casagrandehotel
Hotel Presidente. La Paz. Very conveniently located in the very heart of the historical center of the city. Location is the best advantage of this 5 star "retro" looking hotel, right in front of San Francisco Basilica. Just 3 blocks from the main square Plaza Murillo, 2 blocks from MUSEF, the best museum in town, 5 blocks from Calle Jaén and the museum circuit, 6 blocks from the Station of the Teleférico Naranja, 3 blocks from Mercado de las Brujas (witches market) and other touristy places. The hotel staff is really nice and breakfast is superb! This hotel also offers a very trendy experience called urban rush which consists in rappelling or rap jumping down the side of the 17 story building that is Hotel Presidente. The hotel provides costumes and masks of spiderman, captain america, cat woman if you care to dress like that for the descent ;) Calle Potosí and Genaro Sanjinés, check it online....#luxuryhotel #wondercities #lapaz #wonderfulplaces #wanderlust #wanderer #lovetotravel #travelbeauty #traveltheworld #travelwriter #instatravelling #instavacation #passportready #instago #tourguide #tourism #travelblogger #traveldeeper #connectingtravellers #instatravel #historicalcenter #convenientplaces #besthotels #hotelpresidente #travelphoto
Salteña is the name of one of the most delicious empanadas (beef pastries) that's ever existed! It's a great morning snack that's typical in the bolivian gastronomy, especially in the andean part. In La Paz is an icon of the culinary tradition. Baked and filled up with beef, boiled egg, potatoes and a tasty spicy stew, the salteña was invented in Potosí (probably from a derived recipe of the arabic pastries that were brought to these lands by the spaniards during the colonial period) sometime between the 16th and the 18th centuries. The first reference to this juicy "empanada of soup" is in 1776 but the name "Salteña", like a lot of people say, might have to do with the story of a lady who was born in Salta but lived in Bolivia and married former president Manuel Isidoro Belzu (President of Bolivia from 1848-1855) and who used to make and sell these tasty soup empanadas in Potosí, before she married Belzu and became a writer. Everything is traditional about the salteña, even the way to eat it. There are "sayings" in La Paz about the salteña, for example: "only a person from La Paz can eat a salteña without dripping" or "only who is a good kisser can eat a salteña without making a mess". The salteña is an excellent snack available everywhere from little street kioscos to fancy pastry shops, 'cause everybody takes pride on their own recipe of salteña. It's also very convenient at an approximate price of 1$us. Don't leave La Paz without trying a salteña. My personal favorites in La Paz are: Salteñas Chuquisaqueñas (spicy beef and spicy chicken are the best) La Paceña (chicken, veggies, mild) Supersalteñas (beef, mild), El Hornito (beef, chicken, cheese, etc.,mild) Ortiz (beef and chicken, spicy)...this is my top five for salteñas in La Paz but there's plenty more good salteñas everywhere in the city....#lapaz #bolivia #amazingplaces #deliciousthings #traditionalfood #amazingfood #bestsnacksever #travelwriter #tourguide #tourism #instago #instatravel
La Paz, Mi Teleférico. It's very easy to do since you just have to guide yourself by the colors of the stations, which are properly signalized, plus the staff is very helpful. All the stations and cabins are handicap friendly. It's also green with solar panels in each cabin. The Teleférico is probably one of the main reasons why La Paz won the 2014 online competition of the New 7 Wonder Cities. It's really a great way to tour the city. So far, we have 5 different lines or "colors" (yellow, green, blue, red and orange) very soon the whole network is going to be completed and 10 different lines are going to be crossing the bluest sky in the world! #miteleferico #wondercities #wonderfulplaces #lapaz #bolivia #amazingplaces #tourguide #tourism #worldcapture #worldingram #wanderlust #wanderer #lovetotravel #travelbeauty #traveltheworld #travelwriter #travelblogger #traveldeeper #travelstroke #travelblog #travelpics #travelphoto #instatravel #instatravelling #passportready #instago #instapassport #luxuryhotel #instavacation #amazingcities #amazingplaces

La Paz is a city of amazing contrasts and you can experience these just by hoping on one of the most modern public transportation systems in the world: the aerial tramway or Teleférico. "Mi Teleférico" network connects the city strategically from the top to the bottom and it's a remarkably efficient public transportation system as well as an unforgettable touristy experience that allows you to see the whole city from above, appreciating not only the social distinctions between neighborhoods but the surreal clay formations of the mountains where the city is built on and some of the highest snowcapped mountains of the Royal Range of the Andes (Illimani, Mururata, Chacaltaya, Huayna Potosí) #miteleferico #wondercities #lapaz #wonderfulplaces #wanderlust #wanderer #tourguide #travelblogger #traveldeeper #travelstroke #travelblog #travelbeauty #traveller #connectingtravellers #mytravelgram #instatravelling #passportready #instago #instapassport #luxuryhotel #travelwriter #traveltheworld #cablecar #moderntransportation #amazingplaces #amazingcities
Due to the altitude of La Paz (3600m/11800ft) some people might experience symptoms related to it. But "sorojchi" or altitude discomfort can be easily avoided by taking the simple following precautions: drinking lots of coca tea and fluids, eating smaller than usual portions of food and avoiding alcohol the first couple of days 'til propper acclimatization. Other people prevent any discomfort by taking diamox pills a few days before traveling or taking sorojchi pills once they get here. Sorojchi pills are aspirin with caffeine pills. Nevertheless, there are also psychological factors that can influence in the perception and experience of altitude. Maybe they were right when they said the altitude had something to do with the Bolivian football victory over Argentina in 2009 by 6-1 for the eliminatories to the world cup...yes we were lucky over the star team including the great Messi that historic day...and although we did not make it to the world cup it was a glorious day for us bolivians! In any case, take it easy in La Paz yhe first couple of days...#amazingplaces #wondercities #lapaz #traveltheworld #travelwriter #travelblogger #travelblog #traveldeeper #travelstroke #instatravel #instatravelling #instavacation #passportready #traveltheworld #travelphotography #visiting #tourguide #tourism #instago #travelbeauty #connectingtravellers #travelgram #travelphoto #mytravelgram #citylights #sunset #beautifulplaces
La Paz has been a very important city since colonial times. It was founded in 1548 and it was the transit point in the commercial route between Potosí and Lima. La Paz was the "craddle" of the Latin American independence since it was here where the continental independence movement started. This strategic viewpoint of KILLI KILLI was the monitoring center of the indigenous revolt of 1781 led by Tupac Katari. The famous siege of 40000 indigenous that enclosed and closed the city for several months in 1781 could be watched almost entirely from this viewpoint. Today, is one of the best touristic experiences in La Paz, the sunset and the city lights are just outstanting since the city is a surreal bowl of mountains and eolic erosion #wondercities #wonderfulplaces #wanderlust #wanderer #lovetotravel #luxuryhotel #travelblogger #traveldeeper #travelstroke #travelblog #travelpics #traveltheworld #travelwriter #instatravelling #instavacation #passportready #instago #tourguide #tourism #worldcapture #connectingtravellers #travelbeauty #traveltheworld #beinghappy
La Paz is known as the highest capital in the world, although it's not really the capital but the seat of government of Bolivia. This is the main square or Plaza Murillo, location of the Governmental Palace (executive power)the Parliament (legislative power) the Cathedral, the National Museum of Art and other important buildings of this historical area of the city #wondercities #wonderfulplaces #wanderlust #wanderer #travelphoto #lovetotravel #travelbeauty #traveltheworld #travelwriter #travelblogger #traveldeeper #travelstroke #traveling #photography #mytravelgram #visiting #luxuryhotel #connectingtravelers #instatravelling #instavacation #passportready #instago #instapassport #bolivia #tourguide #tourism #worldcapture #instatravel

There's an antique train cemetery about 3km (1,9mi) from Uyuni, the town that once was the distribution hub for trains carrying minerals on their way to the pacific ocean ports. This rail construction started in 1888 and ended in 1892 same as the presidency of its most fervent promoter, silver-mining tycoon Aniceto Arce #traincemetery #uyunisaltflat #travelblogger #travelwriter #traveltheworld #traveldeeper #travelstroke #instatravel #instatravelling #instavacation #instago #passportready #worldplaces #amazingplaces #worldcapture #worldingram #tourguide #bolivia #postcardsfromtheworld #mytravelgram #travelbeauty #lovetotravel #travelphotography #connectingtravellers #wanderlust #wanderer #travelphoto #travelpics
Under the starry sky...The Salt Flat of Uyuni is probably one of the best stargazing spots in the world, but in general this whole area and the Altiplano (High Plateau) provide you with the chance of taking a closer look at the stars #amazingplaces #magicalplaces #starrynight #nightpic #worldplaces #worldcapture #worldingram #tourguide #traveltheworld #travelwriter #travelblogger #travelblog #traveldeeper #travelstroke #instatravel #instatravelling #instavacation #passportready #connectingtravellers #mytravelgram #travelbeauty #traveller #luxuryhotel #lovetotravel #wonderfulplaces #wanderlust #wanderer #travelphoto
The weather in this area is variable and it also depends on the season but basically you'll always need warm clothes. It can be sunny during the day and a t-shirt might feel comfortable but it gets windy and colder at sunset, night and morning so you definitely need long sleeves, wind-braker, a good jacket, scarf, woolen or similar hat and gloves; especially for the winter (june, july, august are the coldest months) head scarfs come in handy and don't forget sun screen, good sun glasses and a hat, the sun is quite strong at this altitude. #worldcapture #wonderfulplaces #wanderlust #wanderlust #travelwriter #travelblogger #traveldeeper #travelstroke #travelblog #travelpics #travelphoto #travelphotography #traveltheworld #luxuryhotel #lovetotravel #instatravel #instatravelling #instavacation #instago #passportready #worldplaces #amazingplaces
Did you know approx 70% of the world's lithium reserves are found in the Salt Flat of Uyuni? An estimated of 10 billion tons of salt...But the Salar surroundings also present the posibility of visiting many other natural attractions such as Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve of Andean Fauna, The Green Lagoon , The White Lagoon, The Red Lagoon, Geysers and hot springs, The Dalí Desert (named after Salvador Dalí due to the surreal landscapes) The Stone City and the Stone Tree that you see in this picture among others #amazingplaces #stonetree #wonderfulplaces #naturalwonders #travel #traveltheworld #travelwriter #travelblogger #traveldeeper #travelstroke #traveling #photography #mytravelgram #lovetotravel #worldcapture #instatravel #instatravelling #instavacation #instago #passportready #luxuryhotel #connectingtravelers #travelpics #travelphoto #wanderer #wanderlust #worldingram #bolivia
When is the best time to visit the Salt Falt of Uyuni? Salar de Uyuni is a surreal experience in the dry season, beautiful polygonal patterns on the thick crust of salt extending in the inmensity. But the rain takes it to a whole new level. As a thin layer of water covers the salt flat a perfect reflection of the sky above makes difficult to know where the sky ends and the land begins. So the best time to visit really depends on the type of experience you are looking for, it's basically always amazing, just avoid December and January since the excessive rain can cause tours cancellations #naturalmirrors #traveltheworld #travelwriter #travelblogger #traveldeeper #travelstroke #travelgram #tourism #worldcapture #instatravel #instatravelling #instavacation #instago #instapassport #passportready #postcardsfromtheworld #travelphoto #travelphotography #wanderlust #wanderer #lovetotravel #wonderfulplaces #luxuryhotel #worldplaces #naturalwonders

Did you know the beautiful Salt Desert of Uyuni was the setting for a decisive moment in The Last Jedi, the latest episode of Star Wars? Uyuni is the largest Salt Flat in the world and one of the most surreal destinations on the planet. More than 10500km2/4000Sqm of salt crust left behind by prehistoric lakes evaporated long ago. A masterpiece by Mother Nature! #wonderfulplaces #uyunisaltflat #bolivia #travelwriter #travel #instatravel #instatravelling #instavacation #tourism #instago #passportready #travelblogger #traveldeeper #travelstroke #traveling #traveltheworld #igtravel #getaway #photography #mytravelgram #lovetotravel #worldcapture #amazingplaces
