The cute wildlife rehab patients at Howell Nature Center cannot be photographed so this tree out front will have to do. Had fun cleaning opossum, woodchuck, and flying squirrel cages to name a few. #wildlife #rehab #naturecenter #michigan #volunteer #tree #fall

I think alternating work weeks and treks through the woods would work nicely for me. Now to find an employer who wants to pay me for 26 weeks of vacay... #appalachiantrail #hiking #vermont #naturelovers #nature #backpacking #whiteblaze #greenmountains #fall #woods #trees #explore

I like to think of myself as a skeptic, but we had an odd experience here at Sherman brook campsite that defies scientific explanation, at least to my knowledge. ____ As we were laying in the tent, I noticed a super bright yellow light about 50 yards away in the woods. It was large and cylindrical in shape, we initially thought there must be someone over there with a lantern. But it was a dense part of the woods, and we hadn't heard any sticks breaking or movement, so it seemed odd, but we accepted it. Then as we watched, the light got dimmer and dimmer until it was just a little speck of light. The speck seemed to split into two and then it would get bigger and brighter again, but never as much as the first time. We were both totally baffled but agreed we were seeing the same thing. My dad suggested that maybe it was Venus shining through the trees, however, the light was at ground level and there was no wind to cause the light to "move" as it was. He later admitted he was trying to think of some explanation so I wouldn't be so freaked out, hah! So then we tried to forget about it and we settled into bed. My dad decided he needed an extra shirt so he turned on his headlamp and started putting it on. I was now looking out the other side of the tent, and suddenly noticed another bright light, this time only 15 ft away! This one looked just like someone was walking with a flashlight down the trail. I thought maybe my dad still had his headlamp on at that point but he didn't. I got my dad's attention and we both agreed that there must be someone walking down the trail with a headlamp. Just a few seconds later the light went out completely, we heard no rustling, no footsteps, no sounds of someone stumbling on rocks and crunching on leaves as they would have been in the dark. This happened this first night, so we spent the entire week talking about the experience and possible explanations and we're both at a loss. Two nights later we were at Goddard shelter and
