start taking notes, america because women should not have to skip meals / develop eating disorders in order to be seen as "valid" and/or beautiful in the beauty industry. It's damaging, mot only to these models, but also to (mostly) young girls who will feel the need to validate themselves by eating less.
Refugee Mission, Reyhanli, Turkey. // PART 2 // . . For months prior to our deployment, my team members - Lalon, Monju, Susheela, Eusuf and I, all from different backgrounds and nationalities, on behalf of @unitedaidnetwork - mobilised to raise funds through a series of organized charity events. We managed to raise over £10,000, with the aim of distributing food parcels, blankets, school supplies, medical supplies and more. On the first day of our mission, we visited a camp just a few hundred meters from the Syrian border. On the other side, we could see another camp, filled with blue tents, where approximately 100,000 Syrian refugees reside, unable to make it across the border in safety. My first impression of the camp was, how do they possibly survive in these inhabitable conditions? Most refugees in Reyhanli live in makeshift tents or in small cement spaces usually rented out for shops. The latter are similar to small garages with no access to electricity, fuel, clean water and proper shelter. On the first day, we delivered 100 food parcels (containing critical supplies such as oil, rice, flour and pasta) to 100 families. With each family we visited, I made sure to listen and capture their stories; of how their houses had been blown up, of witnessing family members shot right in front of them, of children dying in their parents’ arms.
