I used to hate my thighs. 😲😲😲 . Yup. Hate. That's a strong word right? . I wanted the thin little thighs that the other girls had when I was in middle school and high school. I wanted the thigh gap. All the famous models had that. They were tall and slender and I was "solid." My legs were "thick." I had trouble shopping for jeans and pants that wouldnt make me feel like I wasn't showing off my thighs too much. I didn't want people to notice them. . I gained a better appreciation for my strength during college while playing volleyball. We all had thick thighs. They helped us jump higher and move faster on the court. Then i gained weight in grad school, sat a lot and fell out of the healthy habit of taking care of my body. I got married and realized I'd let myself go a bit. . Then about 10ish years ago at the age of 26 I started skating roller derby, where every body shape and size is welcome, important, and celebrated. My legs became strong again. I skated fast. I was solid and it didn't bother me. I challenged my body each day going to bootcamp trainings 3 days a week and skating 3-4 days per week some weeks. I was an athlete. . The roller coaster of life continued. I lost my strength with 2 pregnancies, gained weight, had negative self talk and got in my own head, all while working with others to get healthy. I didnt want to wear shorts or show off my legs because they felt flabby. . Fast forward to present....Through daily exercise and lots of personal development and growth I now, once again, LOVE that my legs are strong. I see definition coming back. I don't mind wearing shorts amd I'm comfortable with my jeans being snug around the thighs...and I certainly don't care that I don't have a thigh gap. . LOVE YOURSELF AND ALL YOUR PARTS. . STRONG BODY. STRONG MIND. . #fitmom#fit#fitness#loveyourself#strong#strength#strongbodystrongmind#mentalhealth#mentaltoughness#rollerderby#rollerderbysavedmysoul#athlete#bestrong#bekind#beleiveinyourself
Stuart McGill has said that when it comes to the body, "proximal stiffness enhances distal athleticism." When your core musculature is strong all-around and properly bracing your spine, it'll allow your limbs to move more rapidly and forcefully. Any athlete that values speed or strength can benefit from spine stabilization training -- core training -- since a more stable spine allows for more powerful movements of the extremities. My AB ARMOUR core training program ( Part 1) is a month long program that can be used to supplement your current training program. If you don't have a training program, I am talking ✌🏻 more athletes. ALSO! As a side note to my current clients, (I will be posting again about this), I will be away competing at the @crossfitgames next week so I will be slow to respond. I will always get back, just resend emails if it's urgent! #abs#absofuckinglutely#muscle#strong#athlete#gym#fitness#crossfit#physique#bodybuilding @myathleticadvantage @sarahschollathlete
