A shot of part of Union Street in Aberdeen city centre! . . . . Union Street is a major shopping thoroughfare in the middle of Aberdeen that runs for roughly 1 mile from east to west! It was established in 1805, and its name commemorates the former union of Great Britain and Ireland in 1801! As some of you may know, Aberdeen is nicknamed the 'Granite City' because most of its buildings are made out of granite sourced from local quarries, and Union Street displays this fact perfectly! Despite being home to many different types of shops and restaurants, Union Street has a surprising amount of uniformity to it due to the consistent use of granite in its primarily Georgian style buildings!
