Oh hi! 👋🏼 I think magic is filling the air these days. Can you feel it? This weekend we’re hanging outside Christmas lights. 💡 Next weekend cutting the tree. 🌲 I hope to squeeze in some ginger bread House making too but my partner in crime this year @shelaghhaney3 is not in the country! Who else is a huge fan of making ginger bread houses? • I’ve done half my Christmas shopping on @canadianmakers.ca! The online market launched today. So much heart and soul was poured into this online marketplace and I’m so blessed for this community and for @kbarlowdesign. • Friends, this is my busy season so it felt SUPER amazing to grab a beer and browse the site tonight with my husband on the couch with my puppy curled up beside me. • I freaking love 💕 the whole, shop in your PJ’s from Canadian vendors from all across the country. SUCH a cool initiative. • Are you taking the pledge this year? This year we’re encouraging all #canadians to support 3 local shops or makers this year for Christmas gifts. #shopyourthree. Together we can stimulate the local economy and support people who have invested in their dreams. • Knowing you’ll get a great quality and unique product from someone who cares will put a smile on your loved ones face this year. #canadianmakers Photo @jennkavs
What a way to remember the first moment in a couples married life. “I do”. I love how these ornaments give that gift of fuzzy feelings year after year. Get yours in time for the holidays, they’re pretty much here! #customornaments#ido
An exceptionally wise woman, the incredible Joan Baez, once said “Action is the antidote to despair.” and I have been trying to pour myself into that message on repeat. Today’s 9 x 12 with @winsorandnewton watercolors.
Her name is privilege. She sits with me, Elevating each pore of my skin, Holding my hand when I scream for her to leave me alone, She sheds herself onto the seats of my car, The walls in my home, The scars in back, She creates rose colored glasses, In the lovers I keep, In the authority I demean, In the degrees I obtain, I still have her to keep me company, She comes running, When I break another human bone, Falling to my knees, She cleans up the blood before anyone can notice, When I push her away, She knows I'll eventually call her back in, When life without her gets to be too much, She coddles me to sleep. She is privilege. She is my mother, My mother's mother, My reflection, No matter how much I resent her, She's there, Like the spine that holds my petite delicate upright, Beauty like the magazines, She is, Privilege. I will never know life, Without her, I will never have the right to claim that I do. I am privilege. And my body boils, When I hear other voices, Of whom carries her same endless relief, Claim to know life where she is not. Privilege, I resent. But I am. And so are you.
‘Madam’ one of my all time favourite fluid portraits. I enjoy creating landscape and portrait pieces out of this fluid technique as it enhances the imperfections in the subject and creates texture in my pieces. A few limited edition prints like this will be available at the @queenscliff_music_festival this weekend where the very talented @themiddle_byclareholder will be having a stall where she creates LIVE portrait sketches 😍😍 check out her page for more details, so jealous I’m not going to this amazing festival!
One of my favorite things to collect from my travels is a small piece of artwork from each place! I love buying small, real, authentic pieces of art from the local artists there! Sometimes getting to watch them create it (like this piece) and other times getting to talk to the artist about how they created it or where they gathered their inspiration from! I absolutely love it! __________ A little over a week ago I was in Vegas with my good friend, @dustint66, to photograph a stunning wedding out at the Red Rock Canyon! The night before we went to check out Fremont Street and we stumbled upon this amazing artist creating his beautiful work! I was in awe! __________ Prior to that weekend I had only seen Facebook videos of spray paint artists creating artwork, but we were able to see this guys create his artwork in person! I fell in love with the beautiful piece you see him creating in the photo and well....it's now hanging in my home as one of my collected travel art pieces! __________ What's one of your favorite things to collect while traveling?!
