I wish i could take a selfie of what is happening inside my body when i write... would it look like an elegant yoga pose performed with precision and accuracy or would it look like a crazy person screaming gibberish at the top of her lungs? The pull to write is a mystery to me. When i am in my ego mind i think my writing life feels like it has to be about the pursuit of something like validation or a publishing deal😳. But every week regardless of the outcome i write. I have a space to share my writing to a small audience which helps me feel like my work has a place to live other than my hard drive. I have a new post which is an inquiry into why we are pulled to write — especially if we have bills to pay and other jobs. Meantime i still ache to want to stay close to this part of me. To write into the biggest truths of life. Which are really an opportunity to re-live presence over and over again. Here’s a photo of me , post yoga, at my kitchen table, three hours into a tiny piece of writing and a new book to read at my side. It was fun to lead a strong circle of writers last week @yogaview where i got to sit among the group and speak into this more...what i found is that creativity hurts sometimes. But it’s positively necessary. Link in profile to read my work. #writing#practice#writer#blog#newpost#teacherlife#yogi#art#transparent#creativity#creativewriter
"Then the Lord turned to him and said, "Go with the strength you have and rescue Isreal from the Midianites. I am sending you!" -James 6:14 God will never tell us to do something He hasn't or doesn't plan to equip us to do. If God told you to write a book, and you have no idea where to start, trust and believe the information is out there to help you. You may need to tap into some Twitter chat groups for writers, join a Facebook group or two, or invest in a resource to help you carry out God's instructions. The Writers' Lounge has a Book Idea to Outline Guide to help you structure that nonfiction book and even gives you tips on how to break down your word-count goal into smaller, manageable goals. If you need a coach to hold your hand while creating your outline, that's fine, too. Find out more about The Writers' Lounge Book Coaching service and the Book Idea to Outline Guide on the site.
