Hey Brandon, you know what's a dumb idea...going for a PR after 5 sets of 4 reps at 405, but you know you don't get paid to think things through. I don't think I'll ever be done, because life is all about bettering yourself and those around you when you can.  When I started lifting, my goal was get to a 500lb deadlift and a 1000lb combined bench, squat, and deadlift total. I weighed 285lbs and could barely deadlift 225lbs when it all began. However today, I weigh a lot less and can check both those goals off! I'm gonna keep striving to my new goals of 600 deadlift, 315 bench, and 405 squat. And when I get that, I'll update my goals again.  But no matter what people think, do things that make you happy with yourself and make you feel comfortable in your own skin! What I want to do and what I want to be may be different from you, but it doesn't take away the uniqueness of it and that's what makes life beautiful, even though it can be messy sometimes! Today I got the most random, but sweet message from a girl asking if I was doing okay.. I was like "yesss🤷 why? Lol"  she said she always looks fwd to my motivation monday posts & I didn't have one. Then @blissful.lyssa asked me if I was doing okay.. like yo I'm fine, tired AF, but fine y'all 😂 so here's a #transformationtuesday & proof that I'm alive and well💜 but I love them for checking. (#currently low key miss bein thicker than a snicker & pushing heavy weight)  Also, quite recently I've been getting told that I'm so fearless and brave, but like I'm just doin me🤷🤣 wanna know a secret? I was scared to start this prep & scared to tell people I had started one, but I'm damn sure glad I did BOTH. I've just learned that if I'm fearing doing something.. that's exactly what I should do next, so, rather than letting the fear get the best of me I feel it, I embrace it, and I dive head first into what it is that I'm fearing. That's just always how I've done things. - -  I can't imagine wanting to do something so badly and never going after it or at least trying even if I fail. If that's what is stopping you, the fear of failure, that's a part of life and a part of learning no matter what. No matter what it is you're dealing with. Failure is inevitable and in my opinion essential. Unplanned deload week.  Was excited to start some new programming and see how it worked but my body has other plans.  Realized I’ve been overreaching the past few weeks.  My inclination as to why is that the current program I’m on has detrained me which made me overshoot my RPE (need to work on that). Can definitely tell with how I’ve been feeling my hormones are a bit out of whack.  Will be taking this week light on everything and hopefully next week will be much reduced in fatigue and able to come back with smarter programming and get some much needed PRs. Or some other crazy excuse in which I ask them in response, “Do you get clean before taking a shower?” . Well, DO YOU? . I am so proud that this little lady is not one of those people. . In the 20+ years she’s been on this earth, @babyboovictoria NEVER lifted weights. . In fact, when I asked her to join my Powerlifting Program at @sanjosebarbell, she thought I was kidding and was surprised that I thought she was “strong enough” to join, but took up my offer nonetheless. . In just a little over four weeks, she went from lifting ZERO WEIGHTS to now being able to lift objects well over her bodyweight - something EVERYONE should aim to have the ability to do as a minimum level of strength. . She joined the program not to become a powerlifter, but to start the journey that ALL powerlifters (beginners and professionals alike) fall in love with ... to explore just how strong they are and can be. . 🔴🔴🔴 Posting this because 1. transparency- we can’t all show off victories all the time because that’s not accurate of human nature and 2. our failures are as important as our successes. Today was a crappy deadlift day by my standards- failed 385, dropped 375 at the top (shown) and ripped my hand badly on my first backoff set. However, perspective is important: this weight was a max for me a few months ago and now I’m able to hit this for a single on any given day (except for today lol), and this is still 3x my body weight 🤓  I can’t get too wrapped up in one bad gym session because there are so many more good ones that led me to where I am today. “Bad” days are subjective, and they’re part of the process that ultimately makes us better/stronger at whatever we do. THIS WEEK HAS SUCKED-but it’s been one of the most important in this whole journey to stage, A few weeks ago I was in a minor car accident or so I thought,  I kept training and pushing through until I noticed my body was just not co-operating and my heart was actually hurting 😳 Went to my magic Osteo on Monday and he put me through some excruciating pain to help fix the issues (hips, spine,skull, heart 😬) and he said a few things that actually made me cry (and if you know me I never cry) “You need to be gentle with your body this week” “you’ve been through more then you think” “your body protected you now you need to protect it” “your strong and healthy so unfortunately this will affect you more”  To me that really hit home, we push our body’s to the limit and sometimes we forget how much it does for us yes I’m frustrated I’m not allowed to train but I am so bloody thankful that my body protected my organs 💪🏻 This week my goals are to be on point with my food tracking and keep my body mobile im still in a bit of pain but nothing compared to what it could be ❤️ Stay safe and take care of your body’s friends 💪🏻 - - - - - #strengthgains #mentalhealth #takecareofyourself #positivethoughts #deadlift #strongwomen

Today I tied my 6RM on squats with 405lbs, followed by 5x3 at 345lbs and deficit deadlifts with 370lbs for 5x6. Current weight 174 lbs, height 5'6. I enjoyed building some definition and cutting. I'm no body builder, but this cutting session helped me build some confidence. I plan on maintaining between 168-176 lbs for the next few months. Back to powerlifting.
