The last few months have been rough as I’ve been focused more on the practical/business side of being successful and less on the fun stuff you see on Instagram. However, today my mother called me with a short story that made everything better. She said she was walking home when a photographer stopped to compliment her and offer his business card for a photo shoot. The photographer stated that he was the best in Philly, to which my mother replied, “You can’t be because my son is.” Now, while hearing this filled me with fat-headed pride, it was also humbling because I’d never gotten such affirmation from ma dukes. That just goes to show you that being a photographer is a lot like touching a stove for the first time: you don’t know you’re hot until your mother tells you so. | Here’s a photo of @gpaol who I hope I get to graduate with because she’s literally the nicest badass.
