The only thing I miss about the South is the food. Last night we had: coffee braised lamb shank with sorghum BBQ, rice grits, and broccolini; smoked brined pork chop with apple butter and pickled apples; fried chicken with collard greens (with bacon); cornbread muffins with honey butter; she crab soup made with sherry and chili oil. I'm disappointed we didn't have room for bourbon butter pecan ice cream. The pork chop and chicken were amazing. Loved the broccolini and grits (so buttery) but as it turns out lamb doesn't go that well with BBQ sauce...it was well cooked and very tender but the BBQ sauce was made of sorghum (kind of like molasses) and was almost fruity. Weird combo. But I still ate the rest for breakfast today.
