Roughly 8.4 million people in Yemen are on the brink of famine amid an ongoing civil war, which includes neighboring Saudi Arabia. The Yemeni conflict can be dated back to 2011 when authoritative leader Ali Abdullah Saleh relinquished his leadership to deputy Abdrabbah Mansour Habi. Once in charge, Habi was highly criticised for ineffective policies in mending many of the issues of livelihood Yemen currently faces, for example: corruption, unemployment, food scarcity, rebel movements...etc. As a result of incompetent leadership, the Houthi movement (who previously rebelled against Saleh's government) began a newfound rebellion against Habi's regime. With fear that a Houthi controlled government would bring alliances with Iran, Saudi Arabia subsequently became involved to provide military support to the current regime. The Houthi rebels responded by firing a ballistic missle which narrowly missed the Saudi capital Riyadh's international airport on November 4th. In consequence of the attack, Saudi forces have now imposed a blockade on Yemeni ports and borders which has resulted in some 20 million people to be left without much needed aid. There have been talks of peace supposedly scheduled in late December, as cracks in the Houthi rebellion have started to form, but as of now nothing conclusive has been reported amid the crisis. #stopviolence#awareness#famine#yemen#saudiarabia#houthi#news#worldnews#oppression#starvation#unitednations#iran#riyadh#government#worldpeace#civilwar#civil#aid#humanity#humanitarian#islam#muslim
