A relatively quiet birthday lunch with cyclone Gita and tastings of a young, well balanced Kumeu Village Chardonnay 2016 and a dry Framingham 2007 Reisling with lingering minerality, Bento Box peckings of raw and spicy, grilled Japanese seafare, duck dumplings, octopus balls, Kumra fries with sesame with accompaniments of miso, soya, mustard, ginger and wasabi. Clearly not conventional... but then we had a cyclone for company!
