I thought I had to feel like life was always going to be hard, That there was always an obstacle waiting for me, That something was always out to get me, But you shouldn’t live like that, I told myself. How can you breathe? You don’t, (I barely did) You hold your breath And breathe shallow... Living in anxiety and fear And that’s not living. Quality living is deep, mindful, peaceful... breathing. Simple right? Not so simple.. The ultimate truth was these were not my thoughts. They are thoughts of others that I had allowed to come into my life & stay there. Their thoughts rubbed off on me just like thoughts from others rubbed off on them. We are not disciplined, We do not know when to draw the land in the sand, & we do not know thyself. Where do these thoughts come from anyways that get passed around to each other jumping from one to the next? Previous lives maybe, from a different time and civilization with its own learning curve. That’s a little much for my mind to wrap around right now. But I can slowly but steady wrap around my body and wiggle it all out of me. All that my own soul has experienced and clear this outdated conditioning. And I’m doing just that. Sometimes it takes isolating yourself occasionally to reprogram your thoughts. To reprogram yourself. To create. To evaluate and observe. To see where you are and where you are going. Truth is I am doing the inner work, and I no longer am willing to allow limiting beliefs into my conscious or subconscious. It does take will power to not allow yourself around these types of people who are not doing their inner work and have love for them. It also takes a strong citta (heart-mind) to have this discipline & practice when you are around such energy of restrictive old traditional ways of thinking & behavior and survive unscathed.
