What’s your favorite smoothie recipe ? ••• For the past few months I have been having a shake for breakfast almost every morning. It’s easy for this busy mama of two and I feel that it gives me that push of morning energy to keep up with them. 🤣 When I first started drinking them. I was told by a few people that this has helped them with their weight maintenance but I didn’t really think that was possible. Although i don’t ever step on the scale bc I believe our health should be determined in other ways, I do like my pants to fit well and not snug, so that’s what I go off of. However, it has kept my numbers the same with allowing me grace to enjoy some special treats this fall / Holiday season with my little ones. So thank you to those who confided with me about this, you can say “told you so”. ••• Now since this is my daily breakfast, I have accumulated lots of recipes, feel free to PM for a new one if you are in need. 😊😊😊 Or please share your below!!

Like most functional docs I think gluten (and non fermented dairy) is pretty unhealthy ...in fact I feel passionately that it is one of the reasons we’re seeing an increase in allergies and skin conditions in kids... @drchatterjee @sportiedoc @drayanpanja what do you think?? We all have different degrees of tolerance and you’ll never know what it does to you — TILL you remove it for a bit and then reintroduce it (watch those weird and vague symptoms return)..... The evidence for its damage is vast and very black and white in scientific texts... The argument that we’ve been eating it for centuries  doesn’t stand as we haven’t been eating modern day wheat... I have no problem with the proper old school Eikorn wheat- but bread made with this wheat is dense and not too palatable in my opinion....... BUT life is for living and food is a part of a happy life.. There are healthier forms of gluten products like rye or spelt— but only if you can tolerate them and as treats (in my opinion).....So I’m  trying to find a recipe for gluten free bread that I can make at home without a bread maker——with no more than 1-2 low GI flours in them and no more than 5-7 ingredients in total...any ideas @drchintalskitchen @thekitchendoctorandmum ? In the meantime I have to rely on shop bought and the picture here shows what I mean when I tell patients to avoid gluten... it certainly doesn’t mean buying food labelled “gluten free” which tends to be full of nonsense — but products made with different grains instead...@bionaorganics do brilliant ranges...!! Why do I always talk about Shakeology??? Because it really truly has CHANGED me!  I used to get up and immediately have a Diet Coke (it was my coffee!) and around 10 am I would drink another. I would drink another mid afternoon to give me that energy I needed to get through and then I would drink another with my dinner and those are just the ones I can remember drinking - I am sure I drank more! I NEVER drank water, except when I was running and that was only because I knew that if I had diet coke in my water bottle it would look a bit strange. I had tried to quit for YEARS but I always would go back.  About 4 years ago I said enough was enough and I quit cold turkey! I stopped buying it, stopped ordering it when I went to restaurants - just stopped! And honestly I don't miss it! I was ALWAYS BLOATED and I realized I didn't need it! SHAKEOLOGY gives me my energy now!! Do I love water- ummmm NO! But I tolerate it and I do reach for it first now 😮 I write this to tell you- that you CAN give the things that aren't the best for you up.... YOU CAN! If I can give up diet coke... This stuff is hard for me to post, but... This is for the bullied “chubby girls” (I was one off and on throughout my life.) This is for the girls who ate their feelings (still struggle with this.) This for the girls who abused their bodies in college (like me.) This for the girls whose bodies were abused by others in college. (#MeToo) This is for the chronically ill, especially those battling autoimmunity (I’m with you.) This is for the overwhelmed mamas (I AM you.) This is for the mamas who had birth trauma, C-sections, PPD and breastfeeding issues. (I feel you.) This is for the women who still sometimes wonder if they’re “good enough.” YOU ARE. The only reason to become “better” is for those around you... your loved ones and every person with whom you come in contact. Our culture is increasingly self-centered, yet many women but their basic needs on the back burner. I’ve said it a thousand times: you cannot serve from an empty vessel. Your body is SACRED, in all its forms, and you only get ONE in this ONE life. Take the best possible care of it so that you can be your best for the world. It’s not about looks. I’m a 35 year old Mom of 2 and I’ve had a C-section. The bloom is fading and that’s fine. I FEEL BETTER than I used to, so I DO BETTER, and that’s all that matters. ❤️ What I do takes half an hour a day. Everyone can find that amount of time. It’s been a very hungry day.  I had a coconut and black coffee for breakfast and lunch was roast chicken and some chilli sauerkraut with some kombucha.  I was a chronic migraine sufferer years back and once in a while, my aura still presents itself... blurry vision, nausea and flashing lights and stars 🤦🏾‍♀️. I used to immediately take migraine tablets but now I know it’s probably because my blood sugar levels are severely low.  What works for me now is to eat sensibly ‘as quickly as possible’ otherwise I officially get a migraine and I’m out for the next few hours.  Today, it meant my IF was cancelled and I ate a whole coconut in no time.  I was still ravenous at lunch but I already feel significantly better 💪🏾 #foodismedicine  #happygrubido😀❤️

I’ve been on a total tea kick as of late.  Instead of stress eating while I’m doing homework I grab some tea!  Nettle tea is my current favorite.  It’s known to support female health from puberty to beyond menopause.  For added sweetness + healthy fats I add a small nugget of cocoa butter, coconut oil, almond or cashew milk, maple syrup or honey depending on my mood. To sustainable and uncomplicated food choices! Mango, flaxseeds and oats bowl! Recipe- 1/3 cup rolled oats 1/2 cup mango pulp (fresh or frozen) 1/2 cup water 1 1/2 tbsp flaxseed meal (ground flaxseeds)  Mix it all together, put it on your stove for 5-6 minutes on medium heat, stir and it's done!!
