About six years ago I was working behind the chair but was feeling unmotivated, uninspired, and burnt out. I questioned whether I had anything left to contribute to this industry and ultimately decided to move to Canada to finish my degree (just one perk of Canadian citizenship...cheap tuition!). Three years later I am back in Chicago and considering whether to get back to the salon life. Could it be that I missed doing hair?! Even some of the things that had almost driven me to the brink of insanity?! It turns out I just needed to give myself the space to figure out what I really wanted and that distance allowed me to remember all the reasons I love doing hair! In this industry we can become so focused on making other people happy that we can forget to check back in with ourselves. I neglected to do that and it resulted in me throwing up my hands and saying I'm done!!!...and a student loan that I'm still paying off! At first I regretted my decision to take a break but quickly realized that it was one of the best things I could have done for myself. I'm back in an industry that I love, feeling driven, passionate and excited...and I've never looked back! ❤️
Now I see what the craze is about #tidepods...eating them makes you lose weight 🤪🤣😂 but all jokes aside...been back for 4 days now and diet has been on point, 3 large-volume meals a day (high-protein, high-fiber), a ton of water, no alcohol, extracurricular cardio, and planned workouts — results. Meal prep was key! Eating good food primes the body and mind for optimal results...and lots of farts 💨💨💨 #junebug40
It was an otherwise ordinary Saturday in London - plans for a barre class, some errands, followed by Thai food and a movie. I didn't get beyond the barre class. In the middle of class my leg suddenly became completely unresponsive. It was numb, vaguely tingly and completely unable to move. My first thought was, "this isn't happening". But it was, and I knew something had gone badly wrong in my brain.... #fightstroke#strokerecovery#youngstroke#facesofcare#gamefaceon#stroke#heal 📷: @strokefdn
Gotta be inspired by the amazing Sarah who ran the Portsea run for her Mum Sue' who has had a really rough trot since her stroke. She says "as I was sprinting to the finish line a girl I didn't know finished with me. She turned and said - I lost my sister-in-law to stroke and her name was Sue too. I saw the sign on your back about your Mum and it kept me going....Thank you." #mikedrop#fightstroke#gamefaceon#strokerecovery
Embarking on new journey. One that will push me physically, mentally and emotionally 💪💡😢 #80dayobsession DAY 2 was today ( oops 1 day late on take measurements and weight). I think one of the things I am most excited for is that I have my girl tribe doing this along with me💟 so we will be there through it all together, all the victories and struggles 🤗🤗. There is power in numbers and no one should have to do it alone, including you👈 Stay tuned... Results are down loading.!!!
