Today in the gym I was spotting Daniel on bench press. A man stopped exercising, laughed and took his headphones off to ask “is she seriously spotting you?” and carried on laughing whilst Dan and I stood in total shocked silence. I didn’t have a witty response at the time because the full force of that small-minded mans misogyny took my breath away. So you know what I did? I smashed my bench sets (5x4 @ 32.5kg) and then I did the heaviest deadlifts I’ve done for a while (some sets at 75kg, 2x82.5kg and 1x85kg) and they flew. 🙌🏻 this post is for every woman who has been daunted by a weight section full of men curling in the squat rack. It is for every woman who has been made to feel weak by a man. It is for every person who has been laughed at for doing something that society has stipulated is “for men” or “for women”. We are strong, determined and fucking badass creatures who deserve respect, admiration and support. Anyone who can’t handle that can stand at the sidelines and make silly jokes to themselves whilst tackling their own insecurities. This post is for all of us with the strength to tackle the 21st century and the ongoing gender inequality we are STILL pushing against. 💪🏼🖕🏻 you do you ladies 🙌🏻
When the unintentional bulk went bad. Here’s a little pep talk to women and men who have lost more than 30-50lbs and maintained it. Maintaining weight loss, adding muscle, and trying not to go back to old habits is hard. No matter how easy someone may make it look, it’s not. Dieting is a word I never use. So I don’t do it. I’ve had problems being consistent with my DIET(different from dieting). One day, I hope everyone, including myself, who has been on a journey to losing weight and maintaining/growing muscle finds their beauty within. Yes, that means men too. Appreciate yourselves. Even on those days you call yourself a sack of [insert insult] Congratulate yourself for all you’ve accomplished. Pick yourself up. && keep going!
It's not deadlift day, but found motivation to do laundry and get a workout in. I got this t-shirt as a Christmas gift and just now decided to wear it. I typically buy and wear large shirts because I like the room and I'm not really into them being fitted. This was a medium. It was an adjustment and maybe I'm down a few inches and that helped too. ☺ #deadlift#girlswholift#teacherswholift#girlswhodeadlift
