Meet Nahomi, a 6 years old girl, she and her brother were abandoned by their parents after they were unable to properly take care of them. After spending two months in temporary shelters as wards of the state, they were taken to Kids Kingdom Orphanage last year. Neither her nor her brother (9 years old) had attended school before and didn’t know how to read. Nahomi and her brother, are two of 45 kids at Kids Kingdom Orphanage in Mexico that need our help! With your support, these kids will be able to receive 3 nutritious meals a day, attend school, and learn how to read. In partnership with Kids Kingdom, we are dedicated to providing a safe and loving environment where neglected children, like Nahomi, can grow, thrive, and become healthy and productive adults. ‼️🔥”In the depths of the human heart there is greed not only of things but also to covet our lives for oneself. Living for oneself is a pathway that leads to an empty, vain, sad and tragic life.” - Saul Gonzalez #wisdom#foodforthought#greed#giving#godissogood
Today I got the chance to speak to my campuses Intro to Nursing class. I teamed up with our school’s senior student support advisor to talk to the new nursing students about the importance of utilizing the resources given to them to help them become more successful throughout the nursing program. • I touched on the fact that making a transition with nursing school or anything in life can affect us all in different ways, but knowing that there are different tools and support given out prior to beginning, there would be no reason as to why they couldn’t prosper and reach the finish line. • I spoke on the importance of de-stressing and self-care throughout such a rigorous program like ours, and how easy it is to neglect ourselves when dealing with the stresses of school/life. I offered some of my own study/de-stressing techniques that I use before an exam or whenever I feel overwhelmed with life in general. • One of my goals in this experience was to conquer my fear of public-speaking, but mostly to offer a hand to anyone who feels as though they need it throughout this program, regardless if we’re all on different paths. I found that sometimes we as humans forget to ask for help, or we simply fear to for whatever reason; however, we need to remember that it’s completely okay to every now and then. 💛 • “I don't want to live in the kind of world where we don't look out for each other. Not just the people that are close to us, but anybody who needs a helping hand. I can’t change the way anybody else thinks, or what they choose to do, but I can do my bit.” - Charles de Lint 🌎
