The world says you can have your freedom, but only by being self-centred. • And that was the principle that Timothy lived by for many many years. "Everything that I did was for myself. I was a selfish person. I want to be better than someone else.", he said. • He had always been competitive; relying on his own power and wisdom..... • Until he hit dead-ends after dead-ends after dead-ends • God then spoke through the people close to him. Inviting him to let go, let God, and surrender. • Surrender is an unpopular word, disliked almost as much as the word submission. It implies losing, and no one wants to be a loser. • But surrender doesn't weaken you, it strengthens you. And that's what he learned. • "When we surrender ourselves to Him, we're able to tap into God's unlimited abilities.", he said. "Don't think about your past, because God has got that covered. Don't think about your future, because God has got that covered. But stay in present, because that is where God works - He works in the midst of our struggles and breakthroughs", he concluded. • #glorioushope [19/11/2017] | 5 p.m. | Go to our profile description for location.
We all want to be useful to God, but it’s easy for some of the messy, dirty parts of life in this fallen world to cling to our souls without our even being aware of it. - To minister freedom effectively, we must first be walking in freedom ourselves. 2 Timothy 2:20-26 describes the cleansing of soul and character qualities of the kind of person the Lord uses for His work. Take some unhurried time to seek the Lord in regard to your own heart today; God is waiting for you with unending grace and love. - "Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will." 2 Timothy 2:20-26 - photo: @aows
This is probably one of my all time favorite verses!! I love the picture of pursuing a gentle and quiet spirit. These things really do encompass some of the many characteristics that make God so beautiful! We do so many things so loudly, boldly and abruptly, and we are so outspoken that we often forget to listen before we speak and portray gentleness. This is a huge struggle for me! Which is it that you struggle with most? Pursuing a quiet spirit, or carrying yourself with gentleness? • • • #howhelovesus#hope#beloved#joy#radiatehope#encourage#inspire#jesussaves#spreadlove#spreadhope#spreadjoy#heisrisen
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!" Psalms 46:10 • “be still”. This is a concept we often forget because of the roar of the world we live in. We have so many things to do and so little time, insanely busy schedules, somewhere to go constantly, etc. this results in no time for simply being still, and listening to the voice of God that we often tune out during our busy day to day lives. Having a “to do list” is by no means wrong, but it often tends to get in the way of slowing down and stepping away from the noise in our lives. I️ find myself fretting, worrying, and focusing on the overwhelming things ahead of me, and then completely forgetting to put it in His hands. He is there for exactly that and so much more! He is fully capable of taking your burdens and giving you peace in return, allowing you to be still. • • • #howhelovesus#hope#beloved#joy#radiatehope#encourage#inspire#jesussaves#spreadlove#spreadhope#spreadjoy#heisrisen
Today’s question: what are some of the fears that are holding you back from living boldly in Him? Do we fear that our reputation will be at stake? That we will be judged or of the reaction we will receive if we live our our faith and speak out? Because Jesus has given us confident hope, we no longer have reason to fear! "Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6 Challenge: live boldly, because He has given you a purpose and a future that you can be confident in. Distinguish what in your life you fear and keeps you from living out the freedom of salvation! • • • #howhelovesus#hope#beloved#joy#radiatehope#encourage#inspire#jesussaves#spreadlove#spreadhope#spreadjoy#heisrisen
