Believe it or not, I didn’t start this page with the intention of posting daily about Trump. As it turns out though, it’s realllyyyyyyy tough ignoring a dumpster fire. And today, I came across this. Basically, if you’re a healthcare practitioner who has “deeply held religious beliefs”, as the rightwing jargon usually goes, and you are put in a position to treat a person who is a part of the LGBTQ community, you are within your rights to refuse. This is where we are at right now; where it is perfectly cool to choose your antiquated belief system over providing medical assistance to a human being. I don’t know if it even needs to be pointed out, but when SJW, snowflake types like me talk about the straight (rich), white man being the only person conservatives care about, this is what we mean; where it is legally permissible to discriminate against anyone who falls outside of heteronormativity based on an ambiguous and outdated ideology. When the LAW literally makes it easier for you to fucking exist based solely on what you were born is the definition of privilege.
It’s been a year since I made the last minute decision to hop in the car after work at ten pm on a Friday to attend the Women’s March on Washington by Saturday morning. For me, it’s been a year of learning how to be quiet and listen. I’d like to think I’ve progressed in that area but I know a lifetime of bad habits isn’t fixed in 365 days. Here’s to self-crit, self-control, and the fight for intersectional feminism. It really does start within. . . . . . . . . #womensmarch#lansing#comedycoven#plannedparenthood#istandwithpp#ppam#standupfightback#takeittothepolls#wewontgoback
