Today i wanted to post about my most frequently asked question: my hair color! I also think this will help you when formulating the perfect grey for your client. Let’s face it, every single Grey is different, because every single canvas is different. Grey hair has been a trend that has certainly kept me on my toes. LOVE the look - HATE the process. @pulpriothair has changed this for me, big time. If you haven’t tried Pulp Riot #blondeaf yet, this is a lighter i can promise will be a game changer for you. i have a level five super warm natural level i bleach out with Blonde AF & 30 volume. My hair still lifts to a mustard level 9! So i know you’re thinking to hit the dispensary and mix up another bowl of bleach, save your hair the damage!! Pulp Riot has formulated tools for us to get to the desired result without having to bleach until the hair feels like cotton!! (Obviously please use your own judgment - pastels and brighter colors i do prefer a whiter canvas) But for my situation, i mix Pulp Riot rapid toners (1/3 part violet and 2/3 part silver) - i would also like to add if you have not used Pulp Riot toners yet to please make sure that you are aware you will get results almost instantly!! - this cuts the yellow and adds depth along with sealing the cuticle and making my hair shiny. If im not bleaching and just doing a refresh, obviously you won’t need to do the toner step. Now for my formula i want you to remember if you’re not familiar with the colors, Smoke is a blue based Grey. This means if you’ve messaged me about your clients hair turning green after using smoke, and you don’t understand why, i want you to really think about the reasoning behind it. Blue + yellow = green! What i use to to cut the smoke is LAVA! I understand it’s weird, and i get a lot of strange looks everytime i talk about this, why mix blue and orange together? Why would i put orange in my grey formula? Now obviously direct dyes have no developer, so what you see is
Got my hands on some resin ring moulds. I like metal rings a lot more, but these are pretty fun and easy to make. This one is with lava stone- and titanium dust and a bit of strontium aluminate. I quite like that you wouldnt think of it as a glow ring at first glance, and the way most of the lava and titanium and all of the strontium is on one side only, gives it a subtle dualistic look.
