"Let nothing dim the light that shines from within" -Maya Angelou. The flag was at half mast the day I was painting this. I'm not sure if it was for Vegas, or the fire victims, or Fort Rosecrans Cemetary. A girl from Florida walked out to the edge and posed with her arms in the air. I'm glad I got to capture her pose, her spirit is inspiring and in defiance to all the troubles the world is suffering right now. This original oil painting will be available at Williams Sonoma Nov 4th in Fashion Valley. #pointlomalighthouse#fortrosecransnationalcemetery#mayaangelou
Me too. For every person who doesn't feel comfortable sharing their story via social media for any and all reasons. For the people who ever felt like what happened to them was their fault. For the people who keep their experiences hidden inside. For the people who aren't quite ready yet. A dialogue needs to be created. Talking about sexual harassment and assault needs to become un-tabooed. These posts are not people coming forward to bring awareness to a personal issue. This is a societal issue. If all the women and men and those who are non-binary who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote “Me too,” we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem. • • • • #metoo#genderequality#feminist#feminism#womensrights#girlpower#mayaangelou#qotd#powerful#powerfulwomen#inspiration#motivation#unity
“ we have to confront ourselves. Do you like what you see in the mirror? And according to our light, according to our understanding, according to our courage, we will have to say yay or nay—and rise “ • It’s a new week, and the clouds feel like they are beginning to lift. Excited and looking forward to a whole lot in coming months! This picture is one of my favourites, taken a few weeks ago. Anyways, I hope everyone else has a great Monday/Week/Month etc!
“...Good done anywhere is good done everywhere. For a change, start by speaking to people rather than walking by them like they're stones that don't matter. As long as you're breathing, it's never too late to do some good.” m.angelo
