When you make old fashioned syrup you make the Cubed Old Fashioned. Everything you need in one glass, a great fall cocktail and the cold blows on in! Cubed Old Fashioned 3/4oz Cognac (Ferrand 1840) 3/4oz Rye (Sazerac) 3/4oz Aged rum (Plantation 5) 1/4oz Old fashioned syrup 1dsh Aromatic bitters (Angostura) 1dsh Orange bitters (Regan's) 1dsh Chocolate bitters (Bittermens Mole) Stir, strain, up. Garnish with orange zest and cherry. Old Fashioned Syrup 2 parts sugar 1 part rye whiskey 1/4 part Angostura bitters 2 cloves 2 star anise 1 cinnamon stick 10 allspice Put all into pot at medium heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat. Let cool. Strain off solids and bottle. The most complicated cocktail I had ever made to that point when I first tried this a few years back, now making the syrup feels like a fall tradition. Cheers
Not all decanters are created equally. We recently discovered Libation Lab’s (AKA @libalab) amazing products on Etsy which prove the point. For instance, check out this Drinker’s Dictionary Decanter and what they have to say about it: “In 1737, Benjamin Franklin compiled The Drinker's Dictionary, a list of every word and phrase meaning DRUNK. 275 years later, I got a little PIDGEON EY'D and etched it into a beautiful reclaimed apothecary-style absinthe bottle that makes a fantastic conversation piece for your home bar.” Check out this and all their products via the link in our bio!
#margaritamonday, anyone? #cheers RG @pretty.squares: "@jamieoliver never fail margarita! Freshly squeezed lemon and lime juice, triple sec and of course tequila, all combined in this @rabbitwine cocktail shaker - Add a split jalapeño for some heat!" #cocktails#happyhour#inspo
