Epic Repost from modern day explorer @matty_hannon. Follow this guy right now. • "I think half the excitement that surrounds a new adventure is the uncertainty of what lays ahead. Although I guess sometimes you can get too excited? On my very first day of hitch-hiking down to Fairbanks from the Arctic Ocean, I awoke in the passenger seat to this here van flipping its way off the embankment and into the tundra - in the middle of Alaska, north of the Brooks Range. Luckily my Pete is a mechanical genius who carried a spare carby and a few friendly truck drivers winched is out a few hours later. We limped back to Fairbanks over 3 days of rickety driving with only 2 breakdowns and 1 engine fire on the way."
