The definition of the Scottish Highlands in one image. #peaksofeurope
I don't know how many times I saw that view in my life. When I was a kid and used to come to Crete with my parents for the summer holiday, that overlook of the perched village of Sises meant we were just 15min away from our favorite local beach: Bali. Coming from a village in the mountains, the sea couldn't be seen when we stayed at my grandparents house. It's only once we reached the pass on our way to the beach that we could see Sises and the sea in the background, and it couldn't get me more excited as a kid. 20 years later, I was feeling the same as I knew I was going to be back to my old favorite beach! #peaksofeurope
It always amazes me to witness how water and life are so linked to each other. #peaksofeurope © @lebackpacker
📷 by: @lebackpacker There's no road going there, making it impossible to drive to that spot. The only way to get to that little paradise is to hike or to arrive by boat. Probably one of Crete's last hidden gems. No wonder why most of the people going there in the summer are Greeks coming to spend their holiday. #peaksofeurope

Waking up to that view, enjoying a refreshing swim first thing in the morning and starting off the day with a Freddo Espresso in a hammock at Pavlos' taverna with the sound of the sea kissing the pebble beach as a background music. I could have definitely made this my daily routine but I had to leave this little paradise to keep exploring my ancestors land. But I'll be back to that spot one day, hoping to find it exactly as I left it: unspoiled. #peaksofeurope 📷 by: @lebackpacker

As usually in Scotland, we arrived to the viaduct under a heavy rain. I was literally soaked as I wasn't prepare for that weather, but 10 min later the sunshine came back and offered me the best lightning I could have imagined for that classic shot of the steam train crossing the bridge. I don't know many places like Scotland where heavy rain is instantly followed by insane light conditions. #peaksofeurope

We got out of our tent that morning after a sleepless night due to the crazy winds, hoping for some good light at the Old Man of Storr. The sky was fully covered with clouds and we had little hope to get anything good yet we decided to walk the 500m left between our camp spot and the lookout. Once at the top, some magic happened and the Old Man started to glow for about 3 min, just before the heavy rain rolled in. An unforgettable sunrise and a classic Scottish morning in the Highlands. #peaksofeurope
If you like street photo do not miss my story from today and please share your feedback with me, it would mean a lot. More and more I'll try to shoot human life rather than empty landscapes. It certainly will be a challenge as I find it hard to master street photography. Meanwhile here's a shot taken in Crete, 2 weeks ago. It kind of is street photo too if you replace humans with sheep isn't it. Btw how many sheep can you see? #peaksofeurope
When your spontaneous exit off the highway leads you the back way to the Parque Nacional Picos de Europa. Around 20:00, we went into the park to drive around. I had one of my favorite experiences ever, watching goats being herded by a well trained dog and then seeing gorgeous views like this one about 21:00. When you're up in the mountains, the sun takes even longer to set.
As much as I love being in the mountains, I somehow keep going back to the sea. Some of my favorite places on Earth are a perfect mix of both, whether they are in the Nordic countries or in warmer locations. As part of my 5-month road trip #peaksofeurope I left the North for the South on July 1st. Here I am now in the Mediterranean, starting my southern trip in Greece. If you follow my daily InstaStories you'd know that I've been here for 3 weeks already. It took me a bit of time to start working on my photos from this trip but they're finally coming. Here's to summer vibes, golden sand beaches, turquoise bays and old mountain villages filled with wild cats and mountain goats. Hope you'll enjoy what comes next as I've tried to document my trip the best I could! 📷 by: @lebackpacker
I know it's been a while since my last post on this account but for those who don't know, 2 months ago I left Belgium to start a 5-month road trip around Europe, visiting a total of 17 countries. Life on the road can be very intense and exhausting, so it was hard to focus on all the editing, moreover when trying to daily document my trip and sharing fresh content onto my other account @lebackpacker. I'm now in Greece, and have already been to Scotland, Norway and Iceland as part of this trip #peaksofeurope. Since I left I've already taken a bit more than 20,000 photos, most of which are obviously unedited yet, but I thought I might share with you some of my favorite content I produced so far, published or unpublished. Let's start with that one I took on a glory morning in one of my favorite locations in the U.K., the Quiraing in Scotland!
