Warning: long post! Have you experienced an injury or surgery and now you’re concerned about getting back into exercise? As some of you may know that back in January I injured my thumb which I’ve just been told will take 3-6 months for full recovery, and I’ve also just undergone laparoscopic surgery. The first stage of recovery for the operation I had is to do nothing more than potter and rest for 2 weeks, then light duties (no pull/push or lifting) for another 2 weeks and after that, if things are ok, I can look to gradually introduce exercise. This is massively frustrating for me as I was close to achieving some goals and taking it easy does not come naturally to me so I am at risk of doing too much too soon! If you’re in a similar position and are worried about starting exercise again feel free to ask me questions you may have e.g. proposed approach to rebuilding strength or how to deal with setbacks. The very first thing I would advise though is that it’s important to follow medical advice, they are the experts after all, and make sure you’re cleared by your doctor/physio before you embark on exercise especially if you are returning to it after injury or surgery. #exerciseforlife#training#squats#postsurgery#exercise#nevergiveup#keepgoing#weights#weightlifting#gymlife#gains#setbacks
This morning I can't go to church due to my surgery but I have been laying in bed meditating on some thoughts that feed my soul.• I've never had surgery before, the hardest thing for me has been the fact that other people have to do literally everything for me. I'm thirsty. Well I have to ask for a drink. I have to pee. Can someone help me to the bathroom? It is so easy to get discouraged and when you're discouraged, your joy goes out the window. I've been thinking about that quote "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it" I want to remember that and to keep feeding on happy thoughts. I want to allow people to help me right now and dwell on the fact that I have these amazing people in my life who want to help. I want to find the rainbow and then help others to see it too.🌈 || We saw this rainbow on my birthday last week driving back from Zion.
Waking up this morning and missing you already! You’re not on my couch and we’re not delving into some introspective conversation over coffee🔮But feel so blessed to have friends like you @kristin.hennig.73 come and spend time with me during this moment in my life when I need friends the most, and have funny and hard conversations, and do all kinds of fun and not-as-fun things, cementing our friendship forever (not that it already wasn’t.) Love you!😘❤️
