"Get up, Stand up. Stand up for your rights." Tommie Smith & John Carlos received their medals shoeless, but wearing black socks, to represent black poverty. Smith wore a black scarf around his neck to represent black pride, Carlos had his tracksuit top unzipped to show solidarity with all blue-collar workers in the US and wore a necklace of beads which he described "were for those individuals that were lynched, or killed and that no-one said a prayer for, that were hung and tarred. It was for those thrown off the side of the boats in the Middle Passage." All three athletes wore Olympic Project for Human Rights (OPHR) badges after Norman, a critic of Australia's former White Australia Policy, expressed empathy with their ideals. We've seen this before, we've been here before, sadly, we're still here. That's why it's still a conversation. Open your eyes, a history book, your mind, and your heart. Find some empathy and maybe you'll discover a little understanding. I stand, I stand for what's right.
I've always tried to make my Instagram positive, but this photo has always been at the back of camera roll. Not everything was so great, there was plenty of children on the streets who clearly weren't as fortunate as us | #uganda#photography#africa#poverty

Do you know that #europeancommission is looking for proposals how to improve next edition of #erasmusplus programme starting at 2021? I have the honor to be one of the discussion leaders within this initiative. It means that next weeks I'll be posting lots of questions about present and future of the programme. The topic I'm focusing on is how to improve Erasmus+ in order to address #societalchallenges better. This is a crucial topic - as a trainer working with programme since 2007 I've observed that it has a huge, even lifechanging impact on individual participants. At the same time I can't get rid of the impression that impact on solving societal challenges such as #unemployment, #inequality, #radicalism or #climatechange could be much higher. Perhaps it's because a lot of participants are eager to benefit from the program but not so much committed to #payitforward. Perhaps we fail to reach the right people. Perhaps the strategies how to address societal challenges with help of #education and #internationalcooperation are not good enough and #funds might be used better. Perhaps... What do you think - what are the biggest weaknesses, risks and opportunities for improvement in the programme to increase its impact on social and environmental issues? Share your point of view and tag the people who might have an insightful opinion! All the responses will be condensed the into concrete proposals and draft the Erasmus+ Generation Declaration. This document will be presented to EU decision makers at end of November in #brussels. So it's our time to shape how the Programme will operate in the future! Have you heard HIS story? I highly suggest you watch the six part documentary on Netflix. This young CHILD was accused of stealing a backpack and sent to RIKERS ISLAND for THREE years to await "A FAIR AND SPEEDY TRIAL" (6 months) .He spent over 800 DAYS IN ISOLATION . Do you know what that does to an adult brain? Let alone a brain that is still developing ??! It literally makes you insane, THIS CHILD DEVELOPED PSYCHOSIS IN RIKERS ISLAND while awaiting TRIAL! His case was ultimately DISMISSED !!!! After THREE FUCKIN YEARS MOST OF THEM IN ISOLATION ?! A FUCKING CHILD! He ultimately died by suicide because of how MENTALLY ILL HE WAS AFTER GOING THROUGH SUCH A TRULY TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE. This is so fucking wrong and such a devastating loss for Americans. He refused countless plea offers because HE WAS NOT GUILTY OF ANY CRIME EXCEPT BEING BLACK AND TOO POOR TO AFFORD PROPER REPRESENTATION! I have not stopped thinking about him since I watched his story on Netflix. My heart is BROKEN, broken into pieces for him and his family. FIRST OF ALL WHO SENDS A 16 YEAR OLD TO RIKERS ISLAND FOR ALLEGEDLY STEALING A BACKPACK, A FUCKING BACKPACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And ISOLATION?! WHILE AWAITING A FUCKING TRIAL!??! Shame on you NEW YORK CITY, BRONX AND THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT. I hope every filthy fucking animal who mistreated him, taunted him, tortured him, looked at him wrong or even looked the other way as he was beaten by other inmates rots inside their OWN FUCKING BRAIN AND ENDS UP INSANE AS WELL. YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHITSSSSSSS!!!! Kalief Browder is a fucking HERO and a message to all Americans EVERYWHERE ABOUT INEQUALITY AND CRIMINAL INJUSTICE. I am DEVASTATED by this story, America truly lost a HERO! Someone who could have changed things, who could have been somebody! SHAME ON YOU, FUCKING PIGS. #whatfreedom ? #justiceforkaliefbrowder . . . . #kaliefbrowder#time#netflix#kaliefbrowderstory#documentary#documentaries#educate#staywoke#woke#wakeupamerica#ftp
