Today, marijuana legalization remains a heated topic of debate in the United States and elsewhere. Here, I will try to tear down some misconceptions on the subject, and make the case for legalization or at least decriminalization of marijuana usage, sale; and production. The first, which is surprisingly and unfortunately common, is that hemp is only used to make a drug. For thousands of years, hemp has been used for rope/string, paper (the declaration of independence was written on a sheet of hemp paper), oil, and a commonly used painkiller. this was its first form as a drug. With our current cannabis laws, even making, selling, and using marijuana for things like making rope is considered a crime. Many will also say that legalizing marijuana leads to an increase in use by teenagers. The statistics simply do not stand up to this claim. Researchers have found that at the very most, the increase of marijuana use was at 0.8%, which was within the margin of statistical error. Furthermore, more often than not the statistics actually showed a drop in adolescent marijuana use after legalization. This same pattern is present in adults after marijuana legalization. Now that two of the largest misunderstandings about marijuana and its legalization have been cleared away, I will explain why I think that the legalization of marijuana is both practically and morally beneficial. First of all, the legalization of marijuana will create many new jobs in the new legal industry created by it. We can see this in Colorado, where tens of thousands are now creating wealth that is typically well distributed (by the lack of large corporations inside of the industry) though the state's legal marijuana dispensaries. Furthermore, legalizing marijuana sale makes the substance subject to regulations, taxation, and distribution control. This allows a safer distribution of the drug to the population with adequate regulation on spiked or tainted batches. Taxation of marijuana sales and hemp

All forms of the state have democracy for their truth, and for that reason are false to the extent that they are not democracy. Marx, Critique of Hegel’s Philosophy of Right (1843) #socialim #communism #marxism #capitalism #revolution #of #the #proletariat #art #monument #sir_makhdi
Several of Karl Marx's Key Ideas: 1. Class Conflict and Exploitation Marx theorises that industrial society comprises of two classes: the Bourgeoisie or the capitalist (ruling) class and the proletariat (working) class. The ruling class are the ones who own and control the wealth the society. By owning and controling the wealth of the society they control the productive forces in society (economic base), which basically consisted of land, factories and machines. This economic base used to produce goods that are sold for profit. While the majority, the masses, or the working class can only gain a living by selling their labour power to the ruling class for a price in order to earn wage/salary. The ruling class maintains and increases their wealth by exploiting the working class. The relationship between these two classes is exploitative because the amount of money the capitalists pay their workers (their wages) are always below the current selling, or market price of whatever they have produced. The difference between the two is called surplus value. Marx thus states that the capitalist extracts surplus value from the workers. Because of this extraction of surplus value, the capitalist class is only able to maintain and increase their wealth at the expense of the workers. To Marx, a profit basically the accumulated exploitation of workers in capitalist society. Marx hence argues that at its root, capitalism is an unjust system because those that actually work are not fairly rewarded for the work they do and the interests of the bourgeoisie class are in conflict with the interests of the proletariat. Capitalism works as a system that is based on the exploitation of the ruling class over the working class. #sociology #marxism #theory #karlmarx #classconflict #exploitation #bourgeoisie #proletariat #rulingclass #workingclass #teacher #highschool #secondaryschool #teacherlife #teachersofinstagram #teachersfollowteachers
An Introduction to Marxism. The opposite of Functionalism is Marxism. Marxism a structural conflict theory which sees society as divided up into two basic classes; the Bourgeoisie (ruling) class and the Proletariat (working) class. According to Marxist theorists, social institutions are basically run by and for the ruling class through the exploitation of the working class. Exploitation takes place to keep the ruling class rich and remain on their position. Some of the key concepts of Marxism are class conflict, exploitation, ideological control, false consciousness, and criticisms of capitalism. Karl Marx (1818-1883) travelled through Europe during mid and later half of the nineteenth century where he saw much poverty and inequality. The more he travelled the more he explain what he saw through unequal access to resources and ownership of property and wealth. He argues that the working class in Britain (and other European countries) was being exploited by the ruling class. The ruling class paid the working class less wages than they deserved by making them work long hours in poor conditions. At the same time, the ruling class keep the profit from the sale of the goods produced by the working class. To this end, the ruling class got richer while the working class became worse and increasingly poor. The working class also had no way of improving their prospects due to thei poor conditions. They could, however, improve their prospects if they all unite to overthrow the ruling class in a revolution. Thus for Marx, equality for all in the form of communistic society is an ideal type of societal system that worth to strive for in order to replace an unequal capitalist system. # next four posts on Karl Marx's key idess # #sociology #marxism #theory #introduction #karlmarx #structuraltheory #conflicttheory #bourgeoisie #proletariat #rulingclass #workingclass #teacher #highschool #secondaryschool #teacherlife #teachersofinstagram #teachersfollowteachers
The Second World War, no less than the First, strikes all organisations and tendencies in the labour movement with cataclysmic force. Our own organisation is no exception. Like all others, it is being shaken to its foundations and compelled to reveal its real nature. Weaknesses which remained undisclosed in time of peace are rapidly laid bare with the approach of war. Numerous individuals and whole groupings, whether formally members of the Fourth International or sympathisers, are being submitted to the same tests. There will be casualties, which may seem to indicate a weakening of the movement. But that is rather the appearance of things than the reality. Trotskyism is the veritable doctrine and method of proletarian revolution; it reveals its true substance most unfailingly in times of crisis, war and revolutionary struggle. Those who have assimilated the program, the doctrine, the method and the tradition into their flesh and blood, as the guiding line of struggle, cling all the more firmly to the movement under the pressure of the crisis.
