#tbt to this pic from one year ago. I mentioned in the caption below how I was excited for my 7th marathon. On Sunday, I'll be completing my 14th marathon! I don't feel as fit and strong as I did a year ago and that's ok. Life is about balance and priorities. Although I may not be at the same level of fitness from a year ago, I am still fit enough to finish 26.2 miles of fun. 💪🏻 • A short 2 mile shakeout run this morning followed by a little flexing! 💪🏻 This afternoon I'll be heading out of town with the hubby for marathon number 7! The description below has been copy from the original source 👉 @squat_university ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ “ One of the exercises I use with almost EVERY patient I see with knee pain is the touch-down single leg squat. When it comes down to WHY we develop knee pain - it's almost always due to a movement problem. For this reason, we need to re-train the body to move correctly again! ✅ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you have knee pain - try to perform a single leg pistol squat. Can you do it perfectly without pain? By going to a single leg - we're able to expose the problem (that often isn't seen as easily with the double leg squat) & then fix it ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To perform the touch-down squat, find a small box or stack of plates 2-4 inches in height. 1️⃣Drive your hips back & chest forward (hip hinge) - you should feel your glutes kick on. 2️⃣Squat down with you knee in-line with your foot (no cave-in). 3️⃣Lightly tap the ground with your heel & then come back up. Your shin should NOT move forward with this small squat! If you do this correctly, your glutes (butt muscles) will be ON 🔥& you won't have any pain! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Recommended sets/reps: 3 sets of 20 reps at a small height before building up the height - everyone should be capable of an 8-12 inch deficit before moving to a pistol squat movement (foot held out in front). Keep in mind eventually the knee will have to come forward as the high of box builds, but you should ALWAYS start with a big hip hinge to re-train the body to kick on the glutes & keep your knees safe✅ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ #fitness #fit #workout #instafit #strong #haakercoach #bodybuilding #fitfam #gym #muscle #nike #sport #squats
