As I walk around in nature, I find interesting things....this day I found an arboretum in the forest. This area was planted during the years 1936-1938 by foundation of forest science research, and they have made five different arboretum in five different places around that area were I live..... An arboretum is an planting of trees and shrubs, which are often created to study the planted varieties. Other purposes of planting can be to collect, preserve and present different species of trees. Often the purpose are combined, the plants can be studied in different respects........ In the picture you can see a part of the beautiful Hiba ( Thujopsis dolabrata)) from Japan. I think they look like fingers from a dragon, or claws from any animal found in a scientific fiction movie....Have a beautiful evening everyone out there. #hiba #thujopsisdolabrata #green #soft #tree #magical #dragonfingers #sciencefiction #science #sciencereasearch #preserved #naturephotography #bestnatureshot #haveaniceevening #japantree #sweden #arboretum #arboretumfun #knowledge #iseethings #ifindthings #forestscience #vividimagination #iphoneography

I told my husband yesterday, “I wrote every single word on these pages!” 😳😱 = my face as I told him. 😏 = his face as he says “you’re just figuring that out now?” Lol. But seriously, it’s sinking in as I hold it. I graduated college with a degree in creative writing, but I honestly never thought I’d use it. Jokes on me, huh? 😉 . Evalene’s Number is fully funded (!!) and there’s still 5 DAYS left of the Kickstarter.so it’s time for a stretch goal! Between those who’ve bought the book on and offline, we have 51 readers! So now, as crazy impossible as it sounds, let’s see if we can get 100 readers! I know it sounds impossible, but nothing is impossible with God. . 🙌🏻 link to Kickstarter in bio if you wanna pop by and take a look 😘

In a near future, a lonely writer develops an unlikely relationship with an operating system designed to meet his every need. Our Monday Modern Masterpiece is the Spike Jonze love story “Her”. This IS a Spike Jonze love story, quirky and high-concept. Science-fiction has been dominated by epic operas and world invasions, Jonze strips back everything we love about sci-fi and created his most personal film to date. Following the heights of “Being John Malkovich” and “Where the Wild Things Are” Jonze strikes indie-gold again. Science-fiction should make you question about your own humanity and society and “Her” is no exception. Science-fiction depicts a dystopian future, trapped by a corrupt government. “Her” does this but in place of the corruption, loneliness traps us in the future as we become reliant rather than subservient to the technology we come into contact with every day as Joaquin Phoenix’s “Theodore” falls for his operating system. This may sound ridiculous but with Scarlett Johansson voicing “Samantha” with love and wonder, you can fully understand why in this situation it would happen. This is a theme “Blade Runner: 2049” would take this a step further with “K” and “Joi”. Technically, this film is stunning. Aesthetically reminding you of a world all too-familiar if Ikea, Apple and Urban Outfitters merged into one coherent example of popular culture. With a stunning score by Arcade Fire positively manipulating us to fully engage with these characters in this world beautifully shot by Hoyte Van Hoytema through a technically and emotive lens. Overall, this modern-day classic will be remembered as the film to single-handedly change science-fiction by bringing it to a whole new audience.
The premise was original, the characters were complex and their relationships well-written, the plot itself was compelling, and the settings were everything you would want from mid-century crime-noir sci-fi. That being said, it was mid-century crime-noir sci-fi which is an automatic three point deduction. I think I'm going with 3.5/5. It was a fun light read for a Sunday afternoon, and it really was original and compelling. This genre is hard to get right, imo, and Jeff Noon did well building around typical tropes in a way that let them occupy negative space in driving the story without being overly present in the writing. So there's my super technical review, you're welcome. #amanofshadows #jeffnoon #mystery #fiction #sciencefiction #reading #bookstagram #bookreview #books #sharingiscaring
