Joannie Chorjel - @flooowerchiiild - reached out to us with a beautiful message to share. She had just finished @caitlynjenner’s memoir, #thesecretsofmylife, which pushed her to stand up for herself, and be true to who she is. In that vein, she decided to come out as bisexual. Here is her story! . "Last night I finished Caitlyn Jenner’s book 'The Secrets of My Life.' . I started reading it because I always liked the show KUWTK (reality television is my guilty pleasure) and it seemed like her transition happened over night on the show. I was genuinely curious about how she decided to come to terms with her gender identity after living as a cis male a majority of her life. Which is not the case at all! She struggled with GD since early childhood! . If I’ve taken something from this book; it’s do not deny who you are. I did not come to terms with my bisexuality until I was like 19 because I felt like it was wrong, although I knew I was bisexual since early JR. High. Even my closest friends would tell me “oh you’re following a trend, you’re just confused” I felt like I had to grow up; marry a man and have children. (I do want to marry someone and have children; and if it’s a woman, we’ll talk about those alternative choices when the time comes) . I guess what I’m trying to say is that her book has given me the validation I needed to live my life on my own terms (when it comes to that aspect). . My preference in people by no means defines who I am; and I am not ashamed like I felt growing up. I don’t wear my sexuality on my sleeve, it’s not my style. Writing this on a social media status for all my friends and family to read is kind of a validation moment for me. So, ya. I’ll probably never feel the need to talk about this again but the book had given me a lot of insight on myself. Books are powerful if you fall into the right one. Never stop reading, friends! 📖"
