I've been on HRT for 2 months now. Granted I have a looong way to go, I feel so much better! The picture on the left was a couple months before starting hormones. Forcing myself to be as "manly as possible" and hiding who I am and putting off transitioning to make my ex happy. That was the biggest smile I could make. The smile on the right is a truly happy smile. Starting to become myself has been the best decision I've ever made. I still get down sometimes but the suicidal thoughts have vanished and I feel so much better both mentally and physically. We are here to live our best lives and make ourselves happy. We're not here to impress others or make others happy of our own lives. Be yourself and love yourself!

Realistically, we only have so much time on this planet in this life and so many f*cks to give, therefore we must choose wisely about who and what we spend those f*cks on. . Friends come and go like the tide ebbs and flows; people will judge you; sh*t sometimes happens, but it’s all about perspective. . The desire for more positive experience is itself a negative experience. And, paradoxically, the acceptance of one’s negative experience is itself a positive experience. . Self-improvement and success often occur together. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re the same thing. Our culture today is obsessively focused on unrealistically positive expectations: Be happier. Be healthier. Be the best, better than the rest. Be smarter, faster, richer, sexier, more popular, more productive, more envied, and more admired. Be perfect and amazing and crap out twelve-karat-gold nuggets before breakfast each morning while kissing your selfie-ready spouse and two and a half kids goodbye. Then fly your helicopter to your wonderfully fulfilling job, where you spend your days doing incredibly meaningful work that’s likely to save the planet one day. . Ironically, this fixation on the positive - on what’s better, what’s superior - only serves to remind us over and over again of what we are not, of what we lack, of what we should have been but failed to be. After all, no truly happy person feels the need to stand in front of a mirror and recite that she’s happy. Instead of looking at how far you still have to go, just think of how far you've come. . I've never dreamed of being someone who puts health and fitness first. We're quick to support others but not always so keen to follow our advice. I think everybody needs a bit of a encouragement now and then, and seeing these sitting on my shelf gave me an idea.
