I'm still trying to figure out how to begin talking about this Frank Sinatra album I had never heard of until yesterday. It’s “WATERTOWN” from 1970. With the backdrop of Neil Armstrong's first steps on the moon and Woodstock, Frank Sinatra turned to FRANKIE VALLI, who set him up with a bandmate and the guy who'd write "Be All You Can Be in the Army" to make a concept album that’s a fair share Pet Soundsy. It's about a guy whose wife left him and he's moping around his small town -- Watertown, NY -- and looking at how his kids remind him of her. It is the only album cover not to look like a Frank Sinatra album. There is a fansite blog devoted to the album called Watertownology. And I'm pretty sure Lou Reed heard it before he made a similar concept album, "BERLIN," a few years later. I’m sort of amazed by it. #vinyljunkie#vinyl#sinatra
