vines, moss, and flowers. everywhere! 🌱 // 11:17 am: just finished putting together some order forms for the custom carp flag jackets people have been ordering.👘 (pictures coming soon!) my goal for the past couple months has been to set up a successful online shop for the items that are being sold here at the Zero-Waste Academy.💖 Not going to sugarcoat things... the Etsy shop I spent forever creating and planning and budgeting etc. was a big FAIL. 😩I tried tons of different strategies to try and fix things for over a month but nothing changed. but that’s okay! It happens. In fact, only 40% of new businesses survive past their first year of operation. Initially, I was upset because I wanted to leave Japan with a thriving business behind me to help the elderly community here in kamikatsu. But after spending weeks researching business models, marketing, etc. I decided to close to Etsy shop and open a simple, easy-to-read online order form. I added more pictures, tons of color options, and used social media to my advantage. and.... success! ✨We actually are having trouble keeping up with all of the custom jacket orders. I failed failed failed and failed again and then was finally able to pull through and solve my problem. feels so good. not going to lie... if I had this job a year ago, I definitely would have given up/ cried. 🤦🏻♀️I probably would have even tried to shift the blame onto someone else. so so so important to keep trying and working on projects after you fail🙆🏻
Our beloved photographer George Rose captured this pic of Gallo's sustainably-farmed MacMurray Ranch yesterday! He says, "We are only weeks before grapes will be picked in Sonoma County's Russian River Valley. These first grapes will be headed for a future sparkling wine. After several years of early starts, things seem to be back to 'normal.' And yes, 'normal' in California Wine Country carries a broad meaning." We can't wait to watch #scharvest unfold!
