When life throws you a crooked mile and you'd rather just sit and pout than trudge on.... . When God says follow me but the path seems treacherous and a bit uncertain.... . When the days are epically long and there seems to be no end in sight... . Friends, keep walking...He knows the end and the finish line is sweet. Trust Him...and keep walking. #preachingtomyselftoday#thecrookedmile#hisplanisperfect Owen is actually sitting in his very dejected position because I asked him to stop running and plowing past other kids on the path...total shut down mode here.
Happy Sunday y'all! 🌻Currently working with my meditation coach @azahmulchand on a collaborative #meditation/breathing class for people in the fashion/arts/entertainment industry. Meditation has helped me in so many ways since I started two years ago. Being mentally strong and centered is 🗝. @artoflivingusa X #thecrookedmile coming soon!! More details to come!
No matter how many goals you reach it won't make you happy. Life isn't just about reaching goals it's about reaching peace, because you'll just be endlessly chasing accolades your whole life. If I finally get a car I'll be happy, when I get my dream job I'll be good, when I make a million a year I'll be at peace. Peace isn't at the end of any goal you reach. Trust me. It's here in the now just waiting for you to acknowledge it all along. #thecrookedmile
If you have visited the park recently, you may have noticed some changes around Owl’s Tree House and the Crooked Mile. Our Grounds team redesigned the landscaping in the area to create more space for children to run and play as well as a space for parents and caregivers to sit and enjoy. The original hedge around Owl's Tree House was reused in other parts of the park. We hope you like the changes! #fairytaletown#sacramento#owlstreehouse#thecrookedmile
My grandmother brought my mom to the states from Jamaica in 1968, a time in which the country faced much crime and little opportunity. She was lucky, finding work as a maid for an ambassador who then helped bring the rest of her family to the U.S. Thank you grandma for taking that chance leaving everything you knew and the country you loved behind. You had big dreams for us and I think we've made you very proud. 💋Who knows what my future would have been like if she wasn't able to take that opportunity. People who make the decision to leave the countries they were born to do it out of grave necessity. No one wants to leave behind all that they know. We can't close opportunities to others when we were all given that chance somewhere down the line. Being conscious of your own background allows compassion and understanding for others. #knowyourhistory#noban#thecrookedmile
This image to me was the cutest yet most powerful I've seen in the recent marches/protests. The future is right on our shoulders and how we act now will greatly affect what it will look like for our children. Children hoping for a better life in America are being turned away. Sanctuary cities throughout the U.S. are going to lose federal funding for education if they do not comply with increased immigration laws. This is not just "their" issue, it affects us all. We are all pearls connected with the same thread, what affects others will ultimately affect you too. We got to where we are now because we allowed a man to take advantage and manipulate our fear based thinking. Fear of the unknown, cultural differences and the loss of our so called security. Let's choose to love not to fear. Sign Save the Children's petition against the refugee ban. Link in bio #thecrookedmile#savethechildren#unitedwedream#lovenotfear
at some point I think we stopped believing in the idea that you can be anything you want in this life ...... you as president helped us believe again 💛 you and all your swagger #obamafarewell#thecrookedmile
#childrensday reminds us that the next generation is everything! It is our responsibility to ensure they are given the tools and experiences to find their passions in life. As a former teacher, I saw the lack of career exploration opportunities in the classroom. We can no longer limit students knowledge to just the basic subjects (I..e. Math, science etc.) and expect our kids to know what they want do to in life when they turn 18. A child's unfostered passion is a confused and lifeless adult. Their future is ours. Share your unique journey to finding your passion with the children in your life, they need it! ✌🏾#thecrookedmile
