The cable press is a solid upper body pushing variation for a few reasons. 1️⃣ Because you are not supine on a bench or the floor, the shoulder blades are not impeded and can move through a full range of motion, which many of us need to focus on. 2️⃣ Because the load is on one side, the resistance creates a rotational force that needs to be controlled, further strengthening core stability. 3️⃣ The cable also challenges you not to overextend and arch the low back, helping you strengthen you anterior core control. 4️⃣ When you use it in a split stance as shown, you are also working on single leg stability and hip strength. 🎯 Focus on keeping the core engaged to prevent the hip from tipping forward and the low back from arching, as you press out bringing the shoulder blade all the way around the rib cage. #upperbody#push#press#chest#shoulders#shoulderworkout#movement#movementmatters#core#coreworkout#strength#theathleticway#athlete#athletics
Workout number ✌🏼done and dusted 💦 After an impromptu HIIT workout in my lunch hour (workout in my story), I decided to also train upper body this evening 💪🏼 Workout below: 2 x superset - 10 x pull ups, 10 x inverted row 2 x superset - 10 x seated row, 10 x incline dumbbell row 2 x triset - 10 x bosu push ups, 15 x standing barbell shoulder press, 10 x lat raises 2 x superset - 10 x bent over reverse dumbbell fly, 10 x single-arm cable crossovers 2 x superset - 10 x assisted pull ups, 10 x cable pull ups 2 x superset - 10 x hanging leg raises (more like knee raises for me 🙄), 10 x v sits My shoulders are on fire 🔥 GIVE ME CARBS.
First upper body session of the week ✨ The first half of the workout I tried to focus on more strength building movements and then later finished the workout with more interval based upper body movements. I find that combining these two styles is not only good for strength/hypertrophy but for conditioning as well. First time doing weighted dips last night. 🙄Ladies don't shy away from workouts like that. It builds strength and allows you to push yourself beyond what you think your capable of 💘💕💖
