So, I'm usually against negative/bad reviews. If I didn't like a place, I simply wouldn't review it. With that said, this is NOT a bad review! The food at #ботаника#ботаникаспб#botanika is good, but it's a bit expensive for Saint Petersburg. Not insanely expensive, but a 1000/per trip (appetizer, main dish, dessert, NO DRINK w/ tip) is a bit out of my budget for even a weekly thing... especially with the service. I don't expect service to be great here, and I always tip. But it can be hard to justify with better prices elsewhere and being rushed out the door. I'm a former waitress and I loved my job (needed something more sustainable), took pride in it, was passionate and I'm confident I was a great server. Nothing irks me more than a server rushing me- whether with ordering, eating, paying. I understand once I've paid I have about 5 minutes to leave, that's fair. But I was here for 30 minutes, had just finished my main, and was given my check with no mention of the dessert (which is awesome and why ill come back!). And then, literally one minute later she takes my check that I haven't had the chance to put a payment into, and says nothing is in it. I mean even as writing this, I haven't even been here an hour. I don't think it's that big of a deal, just if the owners see this, please retrain a few servers- especially as this is specifically aimed as upperclass and the prices & ambience reflect that. If I'm paying 500 treat me however you want, but come on. No one needs to be yelled at, reprimanded, anything like that, just explain good customer service. It makes the customer feel very unwelcome if they can't even finish their meal without being told to pay. Anyway, the food is good and some of the service is perfectly fine, it is STILL worth the visit but I can't justify this for more than a bimonthly (if even monthly) visit unless some changes happen. It may seem like I'm being dramatic, but I just want to make sure improvements can be made
Last nights dinner was some homemade buffalo ranch pizza!! The dough was store bought (@stopandshop) which I stretched out and laid on a floured baking sheet, and then I spread some marinara sauce over it and sprinkled on my fav dairy free cheese (@daiyafoods). While that was cooling in the oven at 450 for 20 minutes, I chopped up some tempeh and let it brown in a nonstick pan, then poured hot sauce over it and let it simmer on low for a few minutes to let it soak into the tempeh. When the pizza was ready I added the tempeh and drizzled on some homemade vegan ranch (vegan mayo, plain unsweetened coconut yogurt, and spices). This gnocchi was on of the many delicious courses at @awairestaurant last night! Such a unique dining experience at this restaurant. There is no menu at Awai, nor do they tell you what they’re bringing you until it comes to the table. All of the dishes are quite small but full of so much flavour. The dishes come one by one and there is about a 10-15 wait period between every dish. Once you’re full, you ask them to stop bringing more food. We stopped at 5 dishes and then had dessert. There are also no set price on the food - it’s a pay what you felt the meal was worth method. Anyone else been to a restaurant like this!?
