🕉🕉🕉 📸. @adellbridges Scientific Fact: There are over 7 billion ways to learn a handstand. Yup! Because learning to handstand is going to be different for every single person, depending on your body, your background, and your thoughts and attitudes towards handstanding . . So I never want to suggest that there’s a “wrong” way to do a handstand. However, there are three tips I’d like to share that may be helpful, based on what I’ve seen from my students and what I’ve learned in my own handstanding journey: . 1️⃣! Use your legs to help you get up there! By engaging! Whether you’re kicking up to a wall or in the middle of the room, jump off the bottom leg but also LIFT that top leg up to the sky! It will help you stay controlled and help you to get: . 2️⃣! Hips over wrists: I know you wanna get your feet up there but your feet aren’t where your centre of gravity is. Your hips are! Once your hips are over your foundation (your hands), you’ll get a feel for having your body’s weight entirely on your hands, and you’ll start to learn and build strength in this position . 3️⃣! Balance with your hands. When you stand on your feet, you don’t sway your hips or head around to keep balanced! No, your feet and your toes are doing the work. Same story with your hands in handstand. Your fingers should be digging into the mat, working hard to keep you balanced! If your fingers aren’t working, then you need to shift more weight towards them and away from the base of the hand . . BONUS TIP: look in between your hands. This drishti won’t work for everyone but in my experience it’s what works for most . . So that’s four tips of about 7,228,829,629 total handstanding tips that I’m sure are out there. This may work for you, it may not. You’re not wrong though; you’re learning! I’m learning! We are all learning! It’s fun!! . . We've been focusing a lot in class on outer hip stabilisation and now finding length and strength in the sidebody. This pose ardha chandrasana or 1/2 moon pose has been popping up a lot. Here I'm supported with a brick but fingertips could go down to the floor. We can extend further by finding chapasana- the upper hand reaching for the foot of the top leg and extending more through the front body. I'm teaching today, tomorrow and Sunday (check my website in bio for details) then back down to London for my next 100hr training with @jason_crandell - super excited to develop my teaching and see all the wonderful teachers again 🙏🏼💜
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. - MLK Jr. . . . Flowing in my @happyhippiefdn shirt reminded me that we need to focus on the values MLK taught us everyday, not just one day.
🙏❤ If you are interested in the thought of Ramana Maharshi you can follow me on my profile facebook : Alessandro Longi❤There is "you" and "he". If through the search for the truth of "I", "I" ceases, you will cease "you" and "he" and shine like the One. This is the natural state of one's being.🙏Asking "Who am I?" Inside the mind, and reaching the heart, the self collapses. At the same time the true "I" appears (like "I" "I"), and although it manifests itself as "I" it is not the ego, but the true being.❤Silence is unmistakable eloquence, the state of grace rising from within.❤Primary substance whose essence is the silence that I am.❤Your duty is to be: and not to be this or that.❤Ramana Maharshi❤🙏💙🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 💙Se sei interessato al pensiero di Ramana Maharshi puoi seguirmi sul mio profilo facebook : Alessandro Longi🙏Esistendo l’ “io” esiste anche “tu” ed “egli”.

Guys, I've been making a conscious effort to seek out and follow yogis that might not fall into your typical "billboard" beauty of the modern Yoga world. @nolatrees discussed this on her stories the other day and I've been really thinking about it. It's true that I've always been relatively vocal about the exclusion of the "media" yoga, but personally I hadn't made an active effort to seek out ones that represent all aspects of life, to support and to learn from. It takes time, and effort. Because guess what, most of the time those accounts of ordinary people don't get noticed, or featured, or celebrated. You might think it's a bit rich of me to voice up for yoga inclusion being an average petit chic with an aesthetically pleasing yoga account. But guess what, guys. Inclusion means Inclusion. That's it! Anyone can voice up and more importantly, anyone can ACT to push the movement forward. And I'm doing my part. Are you? . Also I swear kitty wasn't sniffing my 🍑. He just happened to wander in the frame 😂😂.
