Everything I did was so that I could learn how to do headstand!#sirsasana ๐Ÿ˜ป I would scroll ig searching for beautiful souls doing all types of inversions. I would watch their hands, their breathing, their movements.  Inversions will forever be my favorite things to practice because that is the one True time that I can say that I a totally PRESENT. ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿฝ‍โ™€๏ธ I am scanning my body, connecting to my breath. "And most of the time women are stronger"  Once again ladies, whether you're 6 months or 60 years postpartum; whether you birthed vaginally or by csection - living with pop symptoms or incontinence does not have to be your "normal". :: @realfitnessformums with @get_repost ใƒปใƒปใƒป Most women who give birth vaginally are at risk pelvic organ prolapse. Estimates say up to half of of these women could already have some degree of prolapse - Most prolapses are extremely mild, asymptomatic, however, without an assessment by a pelvic floor physio exercising can worsen or cause prolapse. Women who have recently given birth (in the last 12months) are more at risk but this does not mean if you are more than 12months PP you are in the all clear. (My POP was at 12months PP). - - Exercises that may worsen a mild prolapse or cause one in someone with a weak PF are: - skipping rope eg double unders - plyometrics (jump squat, burpees etc- these can be modified!) - heavy weight lifting especially with breath holding - abdominal exercises like v-sits, planking, pikes - running and high impact sports - gymnastics - anything that is causing your abs to dome, incontinence, bearing down or ongoing back pain can also be worsening the pelvic floor. - - So if you’re a mama who has had a babe, You owe it to yourself to educate yourself on prolapse and to book in with a pelvic floor physio to see how much you are at risk. You can usually continue to exercise but will need a few tweaks and strategies to your routine - and most of the time women are stronger than before because the tweaks have addressed some other underlying causes of prolapse like posture and so on! ๐Ÿค›๐Ÿป

Teacher training is going so well. It is such a lovely group of yogis motivated and dedicated to learning the 8 limbed path of yoga. I feel overjoyed that every other weekend I get to spend time with such a wonderful yoga community. ๐Ÿ•‰ I love anything that combines a hip, and hamstring stretch with an arm balance.
