The days are long but the years are short. This is true whether we admit it or not. Some days are really long. They end with the littlest having taken two baths, a family walk through the rain to take the pup out to potty, and the almost pursuit of a bunny. While I wouldn't trade it for the world, I can't sugarcoat it either. Today was messy. But His mercies are new every morning. So I will snuggle with this littlest as she drifts off to sleep, and savor these moments that won't last forever. Because those years are way too short.
Just a friendly #psa that when you #move you actually have to feed the kids. You can't get caught up in the hustle of packing #allthethings and loading #allthestuff . There are actually #littlepeople who need food. Plus it's a good excuse to sit down yourself and eat. 🤦♀️ #bster4
We made it through the #labrinth that is #ikea with three adults and four kids. We witnessed #ikearage as some guy went off because the person in front of him was going too slow. We helped a family figure out where they were and how to get out. IKEA is always a fun #adventure . Now to get the keys to the #apartment tomorrow and put it all together. #bster9
People keep saying it's #spring outside, but we had #snow today. #springsnow is apparently a thing here in #co . Thankfully later this week it should be back in the 60's and 70's, just in time to move next week. 🙌
The #countdown is on. It's #nowornever . No object in this house is safe from the #thriftstore bin. We are purging this house. Let me be honest for a second. This journey started out easy. A bag of stuff here, a bin of stuff there. As we've gotten further in though, it's gotten harder. The glider I've rocked four kids in. The crib all four slept in. The tiny clothes that no longer fit. The books we read together but have out grown. Toys they played with but no longer grab. Memories are attached to these objects, and letting those go is painful. But it's just #stuff . The memories are still there, and I know that when it's gone, there will be #freedom from all the stuff. It's just hard in the moment.
Sometimes you have to be #brave and face your fears head on. That doesn't mean you'll make it to the top on the first try. But you will prove to yourself that you can make further than you thought you could. Then next time, you try to make it a further than the first. It's all about #progressnotperfection . The journey getting there, not the destination.
Motherhood can be messy. Every time we think we have it all figured out, we get thrown a curveball. Seasons change. Chapters close. New skills are learned. Boundaries are pressed. One can read all the books and talk to all the moms, but sometimes you can only learn through experience. There is #beautyinthemess as you lean into God in the midst of season changes as you grieve the closing of a chapter and ponder the "what-ifs". He meets you there in the mess.
Happy 3rd Birthday, baby girl. People talk about savoring seasons and how fast they go by, but rarely is the closing of seasons mentioned. The grief of the season that you've found yourself in for years and years. The season that felt like it would never end. But like all good things, that chapter closes and a new one begins. #newbeginnings#babygirlturns3
Today is her last day of being #twoyearsold . It's bittersweet, watching your baby grow more and more independent, holding them with loose hands, knowing that our time with them is short. She's spicy, stubborn, and loving, always ready to lend a helping hand. She loves babies, both real and toys. She can usually be found with a smile on her face, and is the best story-teller. She's the addition I didn't know we needed. A true blessing. The epitome of beauty in the mess.
