Twenty-four percent of survey respondents told us they’re plagued with a snoring partner. We have help! First, figure out whether they’re sawing logs from the nose or mouth. If it’s nasal, try a decongestant spray, and if it’s coming from the mouth, encourage them to sleep on their side. Not helping? Link in bio for more fixes. (Thanks to @thrive and the American Sleep Association for partnering with us on this survey, and thanks to everyone for joining us for #whsleepweek!)
“Meditating is similar to strengthening muscles at the gym. Like exercising, it takes practice, persistence, and commitment. You never know when it will click.” —@agapisees ๐Ÿ™Œ We had the most relaxing morning meditating with Agapi Stassinopoulos, best-selling author of #wakeuptothejoyofyou! Take a few minutes for yourself and check out the replay on our Instagram Live—it’s the perfect break during this hectic holiday season. ๐Ÿ’• #tgif
Oh, this old thing? I just threw it together.
Too noisy to sleep? Try masking what’s bugging you with soothing white noise (think, a whirring fan or the hum of an AC unit) or pink noise (a balanced mix of frequencies, like waves crashing on a beach or leaves rustling). The one that’s right for you is simply the sound you like listening to the most. Link in bio for more ways to soundproof your sleep—including the best earplugs, if you need ’em. Did you know: Your cell phone emits something called “blue light,” which throws off circadian rhythms and messes with melatonin production. Your best bet is to leave your phone in another room while you’re sleeping. But if you insist on having your phone in bed with you (61% of our survey respondents use it to help them fall back asleep when they wake up), hold it 14 inches away from your face, and turn on night mode to neutralize the blue light. Link in bio for more ways to get your gadgets and your sleep goals to play nice. (Thanks to @thrive and the American Sleep Association for partnering with us on this survey!) #whsleepweek
Get in the festive spirit with the 8 Days Of #hanukkah Workout from WH fitness director @jen_ator! Go through all 8 moves, doing 8 reps of each, to light up your entire body—then go enjoy all those latkes and gelt. ๐Ÿ•Ž (Dreidel leggings are from @moderntribe_jew, in case you were wondering!) #workoutwednesday
Dreaming of this delish rice bowl—complete with bamboo shoots, mushrooms, eggplants, and carrots. Chef Edward Huang of @zailainyc shared his top tip with us for making the perfect veggie stir-fry at home: “A stir-fry dish is about high heat. If the heat is too low, the flavors will be muddled and blah instead of crisp and flavorful.” ๐Ÿ“ท: @zailainyc
Check your bedding: Hypoallergenic covers can help curb allergy symptoms, while a wedge pillow or mattress can help keep acid reflux at bay. Link in bio for a full guide to your ideal sleep setup. WH online associate editor @kristine.thomason went north to Canada for some breath-taking, snowy views! Where will this winter be taking you? #traveltuesday #repost: “First trip to Canada was one for the books ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ”
Happy #hanukkah! ๐Ÿ•Ž
You need a slow, even heart rate—under 60 beats per minute—to fall into slumber, but that can be hard when your mind is going a mile a minute. Before bed, try jotting down your biggest stressors in a journal along with action items for each to help your mind switch off. Link in bio for more ideas that can help bring the calm (did you know “adult lullabies” are a thing?!). (Thanks to @thrive and the American Sleep Association for partnering with us on this survey!) #whsleepweek
It’s #whsleepweek! We partnered with @ariannahuff’s @thrive and the American Sleep Association to survey 1,500 women ages 18 to 55 about their sleep (or lack thereof—88% said they are not regularly sleeping through the night). All week long, we’ll be sharing the results right here, along with tips that can help you get more (and better!) ZZZ’s once and for all. Sweet dreams! ๐Ÿ˜ด
